RELATIONSHIP MANAGER – BUSINESS BANKING

PURPOSE:

The position is responsible for marketing to new and existing clients to grow quality business of both the asset and liability book in line with portfolio targets and attain target revenue for the portfolio. This role is also responsible for the retention and growing the wallet share from existing business/personal banking requirements and effective management of the relationship /customer experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prospecting for new business opportunities and offering the full range of Banking products and services such as personal accounts, current accounts, loans, fixed deposit accounts, card products, Internet Banking, Home Loans, Commercial Advances by way of Working Capital, Term Loans, STL’s, Hire Purchase, Asset Financing, IPF’s, Letters of Credit and Letters of Guarantees;
  • Focused growth in transactional banking solutions for the business banking portfolio
  • Documenting Account opening and executing all KYC documents to facilitate account opening and all Bank’s products and services;
  • Obtaining related financial documents to be able to put forward any new borrowing requests from the client;
  • Preparing Call reports with recommendations and submitting for consideration by approvers;
  • Mobilizing High Cost and Low Cost Deposits and growing the Bank’s Deposit Base in line with Branch targets;
  • Providing feedback to the client on the outcome of their request and providing other solutions which could be beneficial to them in the long run;
  • Processing and concluding transactions in a timely manner;
  • Making regular client visits to review business requirements, assessing assets under securities held or offered and submitting call reports;
  • Processing ad-hoc/additional/new requests/excesses under allotted portfolio and obtaining approvals where/when required;
  • Cross selling the Bank’s and Group’s products.
  • Conducting reviews and renewals for existing relationships for clients enjoying various Credit facilities by proposing and recommending Credit Appraisals;
  • Making follow ups with Credit department on the offer letter and other Banks contractual documents for the client to execute for facilities approved and following up internally and externally for processing of securities and marking limits;
  • Attending to the Credit Audit report and ensuring that ARPs are promptly attended to and resolved;
  • Making regular customer meetings and visits to build and grow the relationship;
  • Filling customer instructions/important loan related documents in the client’s respective dockets for safe custody as the information is private and confidential;
  • Reviewing Loan excess and arrears reports on a weekly basis and providing comments for all accounts listed. This involves making daily follow ups with clients to ensure that their accounts are conducted within their sanction limits and any irregular excess are regularized within the shortest time possible;
  • Approving excesses across Branches for relationship handled by the respective Relationship Managers especially in terms of excess drawing on their accounts; and
  • Reviewing and commenting on enhanced and new facilities at the end of every month as per the Central Bank of Kenya requirement to the Credit department.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Academic Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or its equivalent from a recognized institution will be an added advantage; and
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Marketing or its equivalent from a recognized institution.

Professional Qualifications

  • Chartered Institute of Marketing diploma or its equivalent; and
  • Member of Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) or equivalent professional body.

Experience

  • At least 5 years relevant experience

RELATIONSHIP ANALYST – CORPORATE BANKING

STRICTLY FOR INTERNAL APPLICANTS

PURPOSE:

The role is responsible for assisting the Relationship Manager in managing the assigned portfolio.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Incumbent will report to the General Manager, Corporate and Institutional Banking and will be responsible for:

  1. Analyzing and preparing quality credit appraisals/applications for new and existing customers within required timelines/SLA. This involves:
  • Understanding the facilities requested and giving justification for the facilities
  • Identification of Credit Risks and mitigation of the risk both in new proposal and existing facilities
  • Financial and credit analysis assessment based on financial statements provided by the customer
  • Stress testing and scenario analysis on projections to assess the facilities requested for their repayment ability
  • Risk identification to determine the pricing and subsequent mitigation factors
  • Analysing the security provided in line with the facilities requested and their sufficiency
  • Conducting market research on industry and sector specific factors to better analyse the facilities requested
  • Ensure on boarding of quality customers through all the above
  1. Ensure complete execution of all Bank Documents at Credit Admin and the customer.
  2. Follow up on security perfection and subsequent disbursement of facilities, marking of limits in the system.
  3. Attending to customer request within approved TAT
  4. Identification of additional business opportunities from existing customers in the portfolio through various platforms
  5. Collating review information in liaison with the Relationship Manager as well as maintaining a diary of due dates for review to ensure facilities are reviewed on schedule;
  6. Periodic review of the performance of customer portfolio to assess the potential weaknesses and propose remedies.
  7. Attending to customer meetings/Customer visits with the Relationship Manager and consequent preparation of reports.
  8. Liaison between corporate customers and various bank departments in resolving customer queries in the absence of the Relationship Manager
  9. Portfolio monitoring for early warning signs identification and remedial action(s) including restructure and reorganization of accounts.
  10. Any other roles assigned from time to time

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Business related field from a recognized institution.

Professional Qualifications

  • Part completion of CPA (K) / ACCA or its equivalent.

 Experience

  • At least 2 years’ relevant experience.

SENIOR MANAGER CORPORATE RELATIONSHIP

PURPOSE:

The incumbent is responsible for ensuring quality business growth of both the asset and liability book with an emphasis on the Asset book which falls under the corporate portfolio through prospecting for new clients for the Bank as well as the I&M Group, in line with targets and expectations. This role also ensures the retention of customers and growing the existing book through the deeper penetration into the existing customer’s business/ personal banking requirement and effective management of the relationship/customer experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Incumbent will report to the Assistant General Manager Corporate Banking and will be responsible for:

  • Canvassing for new clients and negotiating terms and conditions;
  • Regularly making client visits to review business requirements, assessing assets under securities held/offered and submitting call reports;
  • Cross selling the Bank’s and Group’s products;
  • Reviewing and submitting annual review of Credit Application (CA) under the allotted portfolio;
  • Initiating the securities perfection process, obtaining necessary documents, initially vetting the documents, and following through the process to ensure securities are perfected in a timely manner;
  • Regularly following up excess drawings and loan arrears and delinquent accounts under assigned portfolio, and submission of bi-weekly reports to senior management;
  • Processing ad-hoc/additional/new requests/excesses under allotted portfolio and obtaining approvals where/when required;
  • Providing feedback to customers in reply to their requests/requirements in a timely manner;
  • Liaising with other departments and Branches to ensure customer requests are processed in good time;
  • Following up with customers to ensure compliance with sanctioned terms and conditions with respect to account operations and provision of all requisite documents, covenants, etc;
  • Addressing/resolving customer queries/complaints and providing feedback in a timely manner;
  • Complying with audit observations under allotted portfolio; initiating necessary action and following up with clients;
  • Educating/creating awareness to the client on new products such as Banking regulations, requirements, industry trends; and
  • Providing feedback to Senior Management on customer requirements/ market trends/product development to suit the needs of the customers.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Academic Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business, Finance or its equivalent from a recognized institution will be an added advantage; and
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a Business related field from a recognized institution

Professional Qualifications

  • Associate of Kenya Institute of Bankers (AKIB) or its equivalent; and
  • Relevant professional membership where applicable.

Experience

  • At least 8 years relevant experience
