Field Lab Technologist

The Position

Reporting to the Laboratory Technical Advisor (LTA), the Field Lab Technologists will mobilize, counsel, test for hemoglobin and refer the anemic participants to the Kangemi clinic, maintain the POCT device in good condition and keep record of the testing data at the field.

Required Academic Qualifications

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences
  • One years’ experience in a laboratory set up
  • Registration with KMLTTB and valid practicing license
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (especially MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Proficient in Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) procedures in the Laboratory

This a position whose tenure is one (1) year contract renewable based on performance and by mutual consent. The salary is negotiable depending on the level of education and work experience.

Lab Technologist

The Position

Reporting to the Laboratory Technical Advisor (LTA), the Lab Technologist will perform technical work in the laboratory within a multidisciplinary team at UNITID. Laboratory activities will include sample reception, biochemical analysis, hematological analysis, sample storage and archiving, packaging and shipping and referral among other responsibilities for both research and diagnostic services.

Required Academic Qualifications

  1. Degree/Higher National Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS). Those with HND in Haematology/Clinical chemistry have added advantage
  2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a clinical trials laboratory or research laboratory
  3. Registration with Kenya Medical Laboratory technicians and technologist Board (KMLTTB) with current valid practicing license 2021
  4. Possess Certificate of Good Clinical Laboratory practice (GCLP)
  5. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (especially MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  6. Proficient in Quality assurance and control procedures in the Laborator

Study Nurse

UNITID – AD/11/215/21 

The Position

Reporting to the Study Coordinator, the Study Nurse will be responsible for recruiting and enrolling participants into the study in Compliance with the study protocol. The position will be based at Kangemi Health Centre.

Required Academic Qualifications

  1. Must be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya
  2. Must have a Diploma in Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery (KRN/M) or Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN)

Experience

  1. At least one–year experience post–registration
  2. Past research experience
  3. Solid family planning counselling experience and proven ability to safely provide intrauterine contraception

Assistant Lab Technologist

UNITID – AD/11/218/21 – 1 POST

The Position

Reporting to the Laboratory Technical Advisor (LTA), the Assistant Lab Technologist will perform technical work in the Kangemi Clinic side laboratory. The duties will include sample collection, hemoglobin estimation using Hemocue Machine and POCT devices, sample packaging and shipping to UNITID laboratory, sample chain of custody, side lab equipment maintenance, and inventory Management.

Required Academic Qualifications

  • Diploma in Medical Lab Sciences
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a diagnostic laboratory or equivalent
  • Registration with Kenya medical Laboratory Technologist and Technicians Board (KMLTTB) with valid license for 2021
  • Possess Certificate of Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP).
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (especially MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  •  Proficient in Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) procedures in the Laboratory
