ICT infrastructure Administrator

PURPOSE

The IT infrastructure administrator’s (System Administrator’s) overall role is to ensure optimal availability, configuration, and utilization of CIC Groups infrastructure (Servers, storage, and data centre) in a manner that meets the internal customers’ requirements, creates efficient and business supporting solutions whilst maintaining relationships with vendors, users and key stakeholders by applying best practice project management practices in the implementation of changes in the core infrastructure and enhancements.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implementation, maintenance, and proactive monitoring of CIC Groups virtualization technology (VMware, OVM and Hyper-V) as well as storage (Netapp) by developing necessary measures through regular business system maintenance to achieve optimal system functioning as per internal S.L.As.
  • Maintenance and Monitoring of data centre infrastructure and DR site with all the equipment.
  • Develops business cases for new infrastructure by gaining understanding of internal customer needs, communicating, and collaborating with other consultants to ensure that the most optimal solutions are selected that offer value for money and return on investment.
  • Provides technical input in creating and documenting functional specifications when customizations or extensions to the servers, virtualization environment, storage, Data Centre, and DR site are required.
  • Gathers business requirements from the business users, converts to technical specifications, and maintains complex components of the Office365 emails, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, SolarWinds, Microsoft exchange and MDaemon application.
  • Responsible for ensuring Business continuity and disaster recovery related procedures
  • Maintains windows server and Linux/Unix operating systems in servers and oversees server patching through Microsoft system centre.
  • Maintains functional specification documents for systems including user licenses utilization, change requests, test reports, user access lists and system controls reviews and improvements.
  • Execution of security matrices for systems through regular review of system rights and access to enforce system controls within the infrastructure.
  • Implement information security and control structures in line with the ICT policies as applicable to ICT infrastructure.
  • Recommending the infrastructure solutions and Developing RFP for infrastructure projects
  • Document systems’ manuals including technical and user manuals and write technical procedures and documentation for custom systems applications including operations, user guide, for new and existing applications.
  • Train system users where necessary and assist in support of the business applications as and when required.
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations in assessing new and existing IT systems, software projects and initiatives to support and enhance their secure and efficient use.
  • Configures, maintains, and upgrades Computer/Server, automation equipment systems’ hardware/software.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports on the performance of CIC’s systems.
  • Participate on IT project steering committees and be involved in the design phase of any new IT software development projects;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field.

Experience

ICT Infrastructure Manager

PURPOSE

The ICT Infrastructure Manager role is responsible for the administration and technical support of the ICT infrastructure section including architectural design, implementations, security and maintenance. Effective management of the day to day operations of the ICT Infrastructure Team ensuring an effective, efficient and best value ICT service is provided.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the planning and implementation of new systems, data center management and improvements to the supporting infrastructure; servers, operating systems, storage, networks (LAN, WAN & Internet), databases (Oracle, Sqlserver, Mysql,) and communication systems for the group.
  • Oversee an effective service desk serving the internal customers by ensuring high standard of quality in ICT service delivery.
  • Develop business case(s), technical RFP’s, project plans, reports, other documentation for infrastructure projects and associated efforts and ensures effective implementation of procured ICT infrastructure systems.
  • Oversee developing of specification documents for systems including user licenses utilization, change requests, test reports, user access lists and system controls reviews and improvements.
  • Monitor ICT systems and business application platforms at all levels and implement action plans to improve the customer ICT experience to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Oversees the administration and Implementation of network security appliances, logical and physical controls within the group infrastructure.
  • Manage all the cloud environment and oversee the implementation of the organization’s cloud transformation strategy.
  • Risk management and mitigation (Root Cause Analysis, Escalations, and Recommendation).
  • Complies with, facilitates development and helps to enforce standard CIC Group Information Technology and
  • Ensure ICT infrastructure assets are secured, used and maintained responsibly
  • Liaise with service providers and enforce service level agreements to ensure agreed service level agreement requirements are met by the support technicians;
  • Advise and assist in the formulation, monitoring, review and prioritization of the ICT Infrastructure Strategy.
  • Coordinate and planning the monitoring and testing of the ICT Disaster Recovery plan.
  • Facilitate the development of the operational processes and procedures that cover all areas of the ICT
  • Infrastructure in line with ISO 27001 and ITIL standards.
  • Carry out performance appraisal, coaching and mentoring staff;
  • Resource allocation, staffing and leave approval;
  • Participate in planning and budgeting for the department factoring in growth projection.
  • Participate in various meeting and committees related with procurement, customer experience and others.
  • Oversee implementation of audit recommendations as well as working closely with risk department to mitigate any foreseen risks.
  • Implement group ICT projects, initiatives, and control structures in line with the ICT policies as applicable to ICT infrastructure.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field.

Professional Qualifications

  • CCNA/ITIL/Project+ Project Management qualification

Experience

  • Minimum of six (6) years’ relevant experience, two (2) of which at supervisory level
  • Experience in Netapp, VMware, OVM, Solarwinds, Office365, Fortinet and CISCO technologies will be an added advantage
