Monitoring and Evaluation Officer(National Position)

Responsibilities:

Data Monitoring & Reporting

  • Support and lead monitoring & evaluation and reporting for internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist project managers in communicating data to internal and external stakeholders
  • Support the communication team in collecting success stories and narratives to complement data collected, i.e. mixed methods M&E

Data Analysis & Data Quality

  • Carry out detailed monthly data reviews and share findings with project teams and management
  • Conduct routine data quality audits for quality assurance, to improve on the information being used for decision making.
  • Facilitate collaboration with project managers to use data trends to inform program implementation and QA activities
  • Conduct additional analyses in support of understanding program performance and opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborate with project teams to track progress on project objectives and indicators and inform implementation strategy using monitoring data

M& E framework Development

  • Develop, design and regularly review program monitoring and evaluation tools and structures for new and existing programs, including building tools and data collection processes, and providing feedback to management and Programs team on results to guide decision-making
  • Develop, maintain and regularly update the indicator performance tracking tool
  • Support data collection for ongoing studies/ assessments in collaboration with Programs teams
  • Facilitate planned program assessments, surveys and evaluations
  • Analyze data and provide feedback related to assessments, surveys and evaluations

Additional M&E responsibilities

  1. Working together with sector officers, participate in preparation of quality proposals and concept notes to meet the donor requirements.
  2. Assist the sector officers to develop detailed implementation plans (DIPs), budgets and resource requirements to meet planned objectives.
  3. Contribute to capacity building of the project team on Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, and data management
  4. Any other duty, as guided by line manager

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Statistics or other related field.
  2. Proven experience in implementing effective M&E systems.
  3. At least 3 years of progressively responsible and directly relevant professional experience in a humanitarian context, with at least 2 years management experience in preferably Protection and Education programs in INGO context.
  4. Demonstrated management experience with the ability to engage and motivate staff in a challenging environment.
  5. Possess working knowledge and experience of humanitarian principles, laws and standards – Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS), Sphere Minimum Standards, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), Rights Based Approach (RBA) and Gender Age Marker.
  6. Experience in dealing with sensitive socio-political situations and working and living under pressure in unstable security environments and with long and irregular working hours would be an added advantage.
  7. Experience with mobile Data Collection tools and techniques using KOBO, ODK. Survey CTO
  8. Experience developing and supporting data visualizations for M&E, ideally using Power BI, Superset, Klipfolio and/or Tableau
  9. Experience generating descriptive statistics using a statistical analysis software (STATA, SPSS, R)
  10. Experience with M&E for donor reporting is a strong plus

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities.

  1. Provide leadership and a sense of direction to the School meals program (SMP) monitors and head teachers on the clearly set objectives of SMP. In addition to this, the position holder orients the head teachers and SMP monitors on the strategies and modalities of achieving the set objectives of the program.
  2. Liaise with senior education officer and WFP field staff to sensitize the stakeholders on the importance of SMP in meeting education objectives.
  3. Representing LWF in food coordination meetings and sharing the minutes with senior education officer.
  4. The position holder will supervise SMP monitors and Head Teachers and closely scrutinizes the performance and the quality of their service delivery.
  5. The position holder will give professional advice to SMP monitors so that they carry out their monitoring activities which will in turn help them to monitor food usage and impact on learners’ school attendance and academic performance thus helping them carry out their duty in a manner that is consistent to the general objectives of LWF/WS Kenya-Somalia Project.
  6. The position holder will inculcate in his subordinates a spirit of team work, build confidence, motivate and encourage high performance.
  7. The position holder positively will relate and liaise with, LWF, WFP/UNHCR and staff from the other implementing partners’ and community leaders in a manner that promotes good relationship.
  8. Attending at WFP monthly/annual food coordination meetings and sharing the findings.
  9. Taking part in mid-term reviews with WFP.
  10. Sharing of transport plans and coordinating SMP activities and term dates with the relevant stakeholders.
  11. Helping SMP monitors and, Head teachers grow professionally taking them through induction courses and teaching them report writing skills.
  12. Working and relating closely with other workers, thus ensuring for the common success of the organizational objectives.
  13. . Embracing the rights‐based approach when interacting with people of concern and when implementing project activities.
  14. Interacting with rights holders and forming or selecting committees among the stakeholders to promote and safe guard the rights of the people of concern.
  15. Orienting the learners on their food entitlement so that each child knows what he/she is supposed to get.
  16. Writing reports on SMP activities/progress and impact on learners’ school attendance and academic performance via indicators, challenges and potentiality for growth.
  17. Ensuring that all cross‐cutting issues (i.e. gender, environmental conservation, conflict resolution, accountability and LWF approaches (i.e. rights‐based approach, integrated approach, and community empowerment) are integrated into all the project activities.
  18. Help the education coordinator, through supporting delegations and taking instructions outside of one’s area of jurisdiction thus contributing to the general objectives of the project

Qualifications/Experience

  1. At least a degree in education (B.ED) from a recognized university or any other social science with additional training in logistics, candidates with a diploma in logistics may be considered.
  2. Strong analytical, administration and documentation skills in the management of a schools meals program.
  3. At least 3 years of experience in in a similar capacity
  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Strong reporting skills
  6. Ability to manage a complex and diverse workload and to work within tight schedules.
  7. Ability to contribute to a small, proactive team, motivating staff and working collaboratively with colleagues and providing support and advice as necessary
  8. A full appreciation of the value of co-operation, a team player.

Occupational Therapist

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities.

  1. Assessing, formulating and implementing patient’s treatment plan
  2. Carrying out clients functional assessments and formulating intervention measures
  3. Providing health education to clients and caregivers
  4. Maintaining records and data relating to patients.
  5. Participating and collecting data for operational research.
  6. Protecting clients and support staff by adhering to Infection Control Protocols.
  7. Sensitizing the community on existing and emerging disability issues
  8. Implementing and monitoring Occupational Therapy programmes at the EARC centers and outreach services
  9. Supervising and capacity building EARC community staff on provision of occupational therapy services to CwDs.
  10. Facilitating monthly parents and caregivers meetings of parents of CwDs.
  11. Ensuring compliance with the set standard operating procedures as provided
  12. Implementing project activities as per set work plans for the department
  13. Preparing periodic reports for the department

Qualifications/Experience and Personal Attributes

  1. Diploma in Occupational therapy from KMTC
  2. Registered and licensed by the Kenya Occupational Therapy Association (KOTA)
  3. Skills and hands-on experience in Sensory integration or Hand therapy will be an added advantage.
  4. Proficiency in MS Office
  5. Good knowledge of human rights (UN-convention on rights of PWD’s)
  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  7. 2 years practical experience in a similar role. Experience working with an International
  8. Humanitarian NGO will be an added advantage
  9. Work experience in hardship, marginalized areas, or emergency setting
  10. Working experience in the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities/CBR programs will be an added advantage.
  11. Fluent in spoken and written English and Kiswahili
