Roving Gender Equality Technical Advisor

About the role

We are currently looking for a Gender Equality Technical Advisor. The role will provide technical leadership to operationalize Save the Children’s Global Gender Equality Policy and new Gender Equality Strategic Framework, across programs, partnerships, advocacy, and our organization. The role supports advocacy and influencing while building equitable and strategic feminist partnerships.  It provides leadership to ensure our work is grounded on intersectional gender and power analysis and supports the design and implementation of gender transformative monitoring and evaluation systems to demonstrate impact while sharing learning across our programmes, teams, and partners to support cross-regional and global learning. 

The role will work closely with operations colleagues and with partners, especially women’s/girls’ rights and gender equality-focused organizations, fostering the building of ownership and agency of local organizations.

 This role will provide leadership to design/adapt and deliver gender equality and social justice content for capacity building, adapting global and regional products to local contexts.

 The role will provide thought leadership and guide system strengthening, operationalizing standards, and driving technical excellence in close collaboration with in-country gender equality advisors, coordinators, and/or focal persons. 

This role includes a focus on external representation on priority issues including gender and power analysis, girls’ empowerment, gender-based violence and other topics central to gender transformative child rights-based approaches across thematic areas. 

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

You will bring to the role with you: 

  • At least 7 years’ experience (including field experience across multiple country contexts) providing technical leadership for the design and implementation of humanitarian and development programmes focused on advancing gender equality.
  • Strong understanding of gender equality principles and practices, the gender equality sector, policy priorities, and key gender inequalities impacting children.
  • Proven senior-level experience leading diverse, complex initiatives and virtual teams to achieve agreed objectives, including demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and reporting upon thematic/cross-cutting strategies and/or policies.
  • Proficiency in English and working knowledge of a second language – French, Spanish, or Arabic (with French and Spanish especially desirable) is a must.

Humanitarian Advisor, Evidence & Learning

This position is a maternity cover. It will be a part of the Centre One Humanitarian Team supporting Evidence and Learning in Save the Children Humanitarian programmes this includes; research, evaluation, accountability, learning, and monitoring (REALM). In this position, you will provide leadership on Humanitarian Evidence and Learning systems and processes, and lead training and capacity strengthening on REALM for humanitarian colleagues across Save the Children country offices, regional offices, and centre teams. 

You will provide consistent support to global programmes on data analysis, indicator development and tracking, target setting, accountability systems, REALM-related donor deliverables, research, and evaluations, and will work with programme teams to ensure that the data collected is appropriately used for programme improvements and learning. In addition, you will support proposal development and explore innovative uses for technology in Evidence and Learning.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Demonstrated experience related to M&E and research, specifically with awards funded by USAID BHA, BPRM, and/or UN agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience designing or managing logical/results frameworks, M&E plans, accountability mechanisms, and programme evaluations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and tracking programme indicator performance and developing donor reports for emergency programmes.
  • Proven experience designing and conducting quantitative household surveys and qualitative studies, including calculating sample sizes, selecting a sampling methodology, developing data collection tools, and training enumerators.
  • Proven experience conducting quantitative and qualitative data analysis and interpreting results, and experience using statistical software.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and disseminating reports and case studies.
  • Proven ability to successfully work under tight deadlines, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and work both independently and as part of multicultural teams.
  • Willingness and ability to occasionally work irregular hours to accommodate calls with field teams in other time zones.
  • Experience developing and conducting training programmes for field staff including curriculum design, presentation and teaching skills, and training-of-trainers methods.
  • Knowledge of and experience with statistical software and data visualization tools.
  • Experience working in a humanitarian response setting.
  • Experience using KoBo Toolbox, ODK, or other mobile data collection software.

MHPSS Advisor – Roving Technical Expert

About the role

We are currently looking for The MHPSS Advisor who will be responsible for ensuring that quality programmes are initiated, and capacities developed by providing technical expertise and support. The post-holder will be expected, with limited support, to lead on sectoral assessment, programme design and providing inputs into budgeting and technical coordination activities. The MHPSS Advisor will also work with New Business Development staff to contribute program funding-related activities such as providing technical expertise for donor engagement at a global level or program design expertise within new business development activities like proposal development. They will also contribute to internal technical approaches, evidence generation and standard setting relating to MHPSS programming.

You will bring to the role with you: 

  • Advanced degree in Psychology, Mental Health or a related field.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in an advisor level MHPSS role across multiple countries and contexts and delivering high quality programmes and technical support.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in using key tools and approaches, including the IASC Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergencies.
  • Proficiency in English and working knowledge of a second language – French, Spanish, or Arabic (with French and Spanish especially desirable) is a must.
