Addiction Counsellor

Job Summary:

S/he will provide psychosocial care and support to people with opioids and other substance use disorder. S/he will design and implement strategies to improve clients’ retention on Methadone and support individuals who enter methadone treatment (MTD) and experience difficulty achieving or maintaining opioid abstinence.  The addiction counselor will assist clients with the development of personal recovery programs that focus on addiction management, healthier behaviors, and harm reduction.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement clients centered strategies to improve induction and retention on Methadone treatment (MTD).
  • Identify and track clients experiencing difficulty achieving or maintaining opioid abstinence and continually design effective goals and treatment plans
  • Lead multidisciplinary team discussions on MAT induction and retention gaps
  • Facilitate clients’ induction on MAT and document interactions at the end of every session using the relevant tools
  • Form and lead clients’ psychotherapy sessions to improve clients’ retention on MTD and coping mechanisms.
  • Form and track performance of MAT support groups and lead Psychosocial team to conduct field tracing visits for clients who are non-compliant or has poor retention
  • Lead community education and psychotherapy support programs for people who inject or use drugs (PWIDS/PWUDS).
  • Lead MAT retention performance reviews and give updates on tracing efforts
  • Develop and track CQI approaches to improve clients’ induction and retention on MAT
  • Share monthly MAT induction and retention quarterly best practices reports.
  • Support MAT/PWIDS data quality audit activities for quality programming.

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

  • Diploma or Degree in Counselling Psychology
  • At least 1year experience conducting addiction counselling services to PWIDS/PWUDS
  • NACADA certified training in addiction counselling
  • Strong interpersonal and coordination skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure as a team leader and player

Dice Clinical Officer

Job Summary:

Based at the Key Population (KP) Drop in center (DICE), s/he will facilitate the day-to-day tracking and clinical management of clients; coordinate and provide Key Population comprehensive HIV prevention package, including provision of HIV Care and Treatment services to clients. S/He will provide and lead biomedical interventions including STI screening and syndromic management, HIV testing services, contraceptive method mix, Ca Cervix screening, GBV prevention services, PEP and PreP services.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide mentorship and build capacity of DICE staff and outreach teams in planning, implementation and supervision of KP prevention activities
  • Provide clinical management of DICE clients, including ART services
  • Work with the HTS department to strengthen both intra and inter facility linkage of the key population other services.
  • Ensure 98% retention and viral suppression through timely viral load tracking and implementation of HIFADHI Plus approaches
  • Provide routine minimum package of service to both the negative and positive KPs within the DICE and across outreach spots
  • Conduct 100% timely completion and submission of all clinical reports required at the DICE
  • Conduct up to date record keeping and management of client’s data.
  • Conduct DICE performance reviews, DQA, and QoC assessments including performance tracking.
  • Document and disseminate program processes, outcomes, and lessons learnt and best practices
  • Support and participate in CQI activities to improve service quality to clients
  • Participate in monthly work plan development and implementation tracking.
  • Offer prevention services to clients i.e SRH, PrEP, PEP, IPT, STI and TB screening and treatment MDT for unique and challenging cases, including  clinical management of SGBV,CA Cervix screening

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • Diploma or Degree in Clinical medicine or Nursing
  • Registered by Clinical or Nursing council of Kenya
  • A minimum of one (1) year clinical experience in a KP DICE providing combination prevention and HIV  Care  and Treatment services using Kenya EMR
  • Undergone ART training using national ART training guidelines
  • Ability to work under pressure as a team leader and player
