Quality Assurance Technician

Job Description    

Maintenance of the quality assurance system, quality coaching and improvement and ensuring CCBA standards are met.

The role involves supervision to the Quality Controllers QAQC’s incoming inspection QC, lab and sensory, QCs, Microbiologist and engagement with machine operators, shop-floor personnel and also across the manufacturing supply chain team leaders production, engineering technicians and contractors.

Key Duties & Responsibilities    

  1. Understand and implement business strategic priorities
    1. Align quality goals and objectives with business strategic priorities.
    2. Engage with internal customers to develop partnerships and capability.
  2. Ensure that product and package quality meets legal internal and TCCC requirements
    1. Ensure quality governance, good manufacturing practice and good laboratory practice standards are maintained to ensure EBL product meets set specification.
    2. Review and interpretation of SPC and infinity data and ensuring that this knowledge is extended to the production lines.
  3. Manage the quality and the laboratory environment
    1. Leads the CCBA QAQC, QC function.
    2. Supervise and coordinate the water and wastewater treatment quality control and verification activities.
  4. Drive problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives
    1. Ensure that RCA processes relating to quality issues address the relevant root cause by leading and participating in 5-Whys.
    2. Review quality issue trends and ensure that the appropriate problem solving process is followed where basic RCA processes do not address the issues.
  5. Manage safety , health and environmental standards
    1. Ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental policies and procedures as applicable within waste water, water treatment plants, QC labs.
    2. Contribute to the management of sustainable development issues to achieve key sustainable development targets.
  6. Human resource management
    1. Ensure individual KPI’s are aligned to KPI’S of Country Management Team.
    2. People development.
  7. Reporting
    1. Quality leading indicator, daily to SCW L2, weekly in SHEQ L2 .
    2. Good manufacturing practice GMP – daily in L2, weekly GMP score and monthly reporting and tracking.
  8. Any other duties as may be delegated from time to time.

Qualifications

Minimum requirement: Diploma in Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, Bio – Chemistry or Applied Biology or any related field.

Experience

Process Artisan

The primary role of the Process Artisan is operation of the process area according to work instructions, the execution of non destructive quality checks and carrying out of routine maintenance. The process artisan has a primary focus on the asset care activities of the team. Key Duties & Responsibilities    

  1. Operational Support
    1. Provide support to the shift based teams during operations.
    2. Attends SBT SBU meetings and ensures that the previous day’s actions have been actioned.
    3. Assist shift based teams with situational problem solving.
    4. Coach the shift based teams on machine operation, machine fault finding and correct responses to machine failure modes.
  2. Planned Maintenance
    1. Carry out work during the planned maintenance window in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule issued by the planner.
    2. Where scheduled work cannot be completed, feed back to the maintenance planner for direction. This may involve rescheduling the work or prioritising outstanding work.
    3. Assist fellow team members in the execution of their tasks during planned maintenance windows.
  3. Routine Maintenance
    1. Partake in cleaning, lubrication and inspection in accordance with the maintenance schedule issued by the maintenance planner.
    2. Carry out routine maintenance activities in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
    3. Where problems have been uncovered during routine maintenance, these must be resolved using the appropriate problem solving techniques.
  4. Running Repairs
    1. Carry out running repairs on plant and equipment.
    2. When carrying out repairs, assess the problem and determine a course of action.
    3. Where running repairs cannot be carried out, communicates this to the team leader and maintenance planner to ensure the work is planned into the next planned maintenance window.
  5. Problem Solving
    1. Apply the correct problem solving methodologies to resolve problems.
    2. Assist and coach operators on situational problem solving.
    3. Solicit support for problems solving or escalate to the team for direction.
  6. Housekeeping and Safety
    1. Work in a safe manner at all times, and to identify and highlight unsafe work practices so that these may be corrected.
    2. Adhere to appropriate CCBA policies and procedures.
    3. Carry out housekeeping tasks, and apply 5S principles during the execution of duties.
  7. Support NPD implementation and trials
    1. Support NPD trials to be able to run on assets.
    2. Ensure adherence to NPD procedures.
    3. Ensure all changes on assets are well documented as per the engineering change management business processes.
  8. Training and Development
    1. Train and coach operators on asset care and autonomous maintenance practices.
    2. Where required sign off operators on autonomous maintenance tasks.
    3. Development of operational and technical standards and work instructions.

  15. Perform daily on truck stock counts in an accurate and prompt manner.

Skills, Experience & Education    

Minimum Requirements

  1. KCSE Certificate .
  2. Valid Driving License Class BCE and at least 5 years of driving experience of Heavy Commercial Vehicle Articulate or Semi-Articulate Truck.
  3. Valid professional driver’s permit as well as any other relevant statutory documentation.
  4. Valid Certificate of Good Conduct with at least 6 months to expiry .
  5. Good Leadership and communication skills.

Control and Automation Specialist

The primary role of the Control and automation specialist is to maintain the plant and associated devices to original installed state. In doing so it must ensure that plant availability and product quality is maintained at minimum cost; without sacrificing standards. He or she will also be required to provide continuous improvement initiatives that would enable more cost effective manufacturing in a highly competitive market. The role also entails the need to provide coaching within his or her field of expertise to develop the skills of other technical peers.

    2. Carry out work according to the work instructions and adhering to appropriate CCBA policies and procedures.
    3. Take part in plant audits and close out on audit findings around electrical installations in the facility.
  5. Support new product development implementation and trials
    1. Support new product development trials to be able to run on assets.
    2. Ensure adherence to new product development procedures.
  6. Development of operational and training and development
    1. Train, coach, assess and sign-off maintenance and operations team on asset care and autonomous maintenance practices.

Skills, Experience & Education    

  1. Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics
  2. 5 years’ work experience
  3. PLC programming software training
  4. HMI development , programming software training
  5. PC literacy essential Microsoft packages.
  6. Knowledge of SAP
