Driver – Director General

Overview

  • To provide reliable and safe driving services to the Director General as per the daily schedules. Responsible for transporting executives to and from meetings, the airport, and other events, as well as running errands and performing administrative duties as needed/directed.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Driving the DG to meetings, conferences, social engagements, and other events as requested Liaise with the Senior Executive Officer on the DG’s daily diary and arrive at destinations on schedule.
  • Providing adequate commute-level of security for DG and family, including monitoring for any potential threats while on travel and at different destinations and handling any security threats or issues that may arise.
  • Staying informed on current local events and activities that may be of safety and security concern to safe movement.
  • Monitoring traffic conditions, including road construction and congestion, and relaying information to the executive in advance so that alternative arrangements can be made.
  • Ensure timely servicing and fueling of the Director General’s vehicle as per vehicle movement policy and always maintain cleanliness and safety of the vehicle.
  • Monitor day-to-day maintenance checks including but not limited to oil, water, battery, breaks, tires, Actively communicate and immediately report any incident, accident, or breakdown that occurs on the vehicle and verify that all vehicle administrative documents are in place and updated (insurance, vehicle registration). Keep records in the vehicle logbook e.g. fuel, mileage and submit to the Senior Executive Officer on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Monitor to ensure sufficient balances and prompt top up of the relevant cards for the vehicle e.g. ETC card, parking card(s), fuel card etc.
  • Other Responsibilities Identify and mitigate potential risks within your work area.
  • Take reasonable care of own occupational health and safety and that of others as obliged by CIFOR-ICRAF’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy and cooperate with CIFOR-ICRAF in complying with requirements under any statutory health and safety provisions of relevant Country laws.
  • Participate in Operations projects as may be required. 

Education, knowledge and experience

  • O-level Education.
  • Five years’ working as executive/professional driver in an international NGO organization.
  • Diplomatic experience is a MUST.
  • Mechanical training and defensive driving are an added advantage.

Communications Specialist

Overview

  • The Communications Specialist will actively communicate about key CIMMYT projects in Africa on a regular basis.

Duties and responsibilities

Communication and media support.

  • Work closely with the country representative and CIMMYT comms colleagues in the region and at the HQ to provide communication and media support to promote activities and research outputs/findings related to country and regional projects. Provide communications support for prioritized special events/workshops/meetings and conferences. 

Partnerships.

  • Work with scientists and partners to visit farmers and on-station trials to write impact stories. Work and follow-up with vendors (local and HQ) to produce high quality print and audio-visual communication products.

Publications.

  • Write press releases, media invites and coordinate media visits to various events and field tours. Write content for publications including newsletters, scientific reports, etc. Prepare content for campaigns including messages, pictures, videos etc. Support and coordinate photography and videography activities for field activities. Support new approaches to create and distribute multimedia content to promote CIMMYT projects in the region. Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Education, knowledge and experience

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in journalism, Communications, or related discipline.
  • 3 years of experience in science communications, marketing, public relations, media campaigns, and/or nonprofit communications.
  • Non-profit organization experience or demonstrated understanding of the non-profit and/or agricultural research for development environments.

Impact Partnership Coordinator

Overview

  • To coordinate, facilitate, and technically support the work of CIFOR-ICRAF and its consortium partners in their joint role as an Agriculture/Agri-food Systems and Climate Action Impact Partner Organization (IPO) while ensuring integration and synergy with wider Q4I and CIFOR-ICRAF initiatives.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Coordinate the consortium and donor relationship.
  • Coordinate consortium partners on inputs required to plan work, design budgets, or deliver on assignments.
  • Monitor and provide periodic updates on assignment progress, while devising and implementing solutions to overcome emerging bottlenecks.
  • Lead in the preparation of budgets for key assignments internally and liaise with consortium partners to do the same.
  • Work with Finance to oversee and coordinate the overall IPO budget and that of CIFOR-ICRAF, while liaising and coordinating with the finance staff of the consortium partners as needed.
  • Support the delivery of selected assignments, either through literature review, reviewing draft products, engaging communication experts, or participating in such assignments directly.
  • Coordinate with relevant projects within CIFOR-ICRAF to ensure mutual learning and strategic alignment.
  • Support proposal development where opportunities arise.

  •  Identify and mitigate potential risks within your work area.

Education, knowledge and experience

  • Master’s or equivalent in experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience, ideally in the international development sector in general and in the agriculture and climate change sectors in particular
  • At least 3 years of project management experience, particularly in projects involving multiple partners and in financial budgeting and management.
