Senior Program Officer

Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall project technical, operational, and administrative support for community health strengthening and primary care networks approaches in Nyamira County for integrated HIV/TB implementation.
  • Primarily responsible for all project activities implementation in Nyamira South sub-county, with oversight for the other four(4) sub-counties.
  • Support capacity building for community health strategy and primary care networks (PCN) implementation.
  • Liaise with relevant PATH Kenya technical teams to implement primary care networks, e-CHIS, support learning and CQI approaches, and commodity management strengthening approaches at community level and linked to primary care networks.
  • Support HIV/TB integration approaches at community level to include differentiated services delivery approaches, as part of primary care networks implementation.
  • Liaise with CHMTS, SCHMTs and CHCs to coordinate project implementation, support supervision and reporting of project activities within Nyamira County
  • Lead and coordinate project data review, data quality and data analysis and dissemination engagements in liaison with CHMTs/SCHMTs
  • Provide representation on behalf of the project and PATH as will be required.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Medical Sciences, Public Health, Social Sciences, Health Systems Management, Health Policy with minimum experience of five years providing technical assistance in health and development projects in Kenya.
  • Relevant master’s degree will be an advantage.
  • Excellent knowledge on community health strategy guidelines and primary care networks (PCN) implementation approaches in Kenya.
  • Excellent demonstrable project management skills, including people management, work plan development and budgeting and managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Good working knowledge of HIV/TB implementation and guidelines in Kenya
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams for HIV/TB projects at community and facility levels of care in Kenya.
  • Knowledge and experience on capacity building of communities and community health systems to support health services.
  • Strong English oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent report writing, presentation, work planning development and budgeting knowledge.
  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize work and to meet deadlines within a flexible, fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a demonstrated capacity to solve implementation challenges.
  • Excellent team player and ability to work with diverse national and county governments, development partners, local implementing partners and community based organizations to meet project deliverables in a timely manner.
