Waiter/ Waitress

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Waiting on customers when they arrive at the restaurant.
  2. Arranging and preparing food and drinks service in a proper and hygienic manner.
  3. Preparing and organizing the restaurant for service.
  4. Removing used dishes, glasses, and flatware from tables.
  5. Maintaining familiarity with menu items and canteen information.
  6. Always maintaining good hygiene and personal cleanliness.
  7. Should have the ability to identify, report and correct hazards.
  8. Ensuring all work is done in a manner which enhances the safety of the work environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. KCSE Certificate with a mean grade of D+.
  2. Certificate in food and beverage production and service or its equivalent from a recognized institution. iii. 3 years’ experience in an institution of higher learning, star rated hotel or comparable organization.
  3. Ability to work with little supervision.
  4. Above 25 years.
  5. Active individual with good public relations.

Restaurant Pastry Chef

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Participating in menu planning and development.
  2. Preparing and baking pastries in accordance with set standard recipes.
  3. Modify recipes to meet customers’ needs and requests.
  4. Preparing all pastries and snacks for functions, fresh fruit cuts, salads, desserts, tea and snacks.
  5. Selling and accounting for the daily sales.
  6. Accounting for materials and cash.
  7. Executing food control standard in dispensing the established food and pastries portion.
  8. Ensuring that waste is kept at minimal levels by using creative culinary and bakery methods.
  9. Monitoring stocks of supplies and making appropriate orders.
  10. Observing safety precautions and kitchen hygiene set standards during food preparation.
  11. Perform and ensure duties are performed accordingly.
  12. Providing guidance to interns and kitchen stewards.
  13. Taking responsibility of the kitchen in the absence of the head chef.
  14. Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills:

  2. Diploma in Food & Beverage production & Service or its’ equivalent.
  3. 3 years’ experience as a pastry cook preferably in an institution of higher learning, star rated hotel or comparable organization.
  4. Must have a valid food handlers’ certificate.
  5. Knowledgeable on food safety regulations.
  6. Ability to work in a fast–paced environment and multi task.
  7. Attention to detail, creativity, passion and sense of business.
  8. Ability to use slicers, mixers, grinders, food processors and other kitchen equipment.

  4. Accounting for all production resources provided and issued from the stores.
