Internal Audit Officer
I. Mission of the Department :
WWF-Kenya’s Internal Audit is an independent, objective assurance and consulting unit that works with management to improve WWF’s operations. It helps WWF accomplish its important conservation objectives by evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes through planning, designing and implementing internal audit and compliance reviews for WWF-Kenya.
II. Major Functions:
This position will be responsible for supporting the Audit, Risk and Compliance Manager in carrying out specific audit exercises both on a continuous or periodic basis. This will mainly involve regular reviews of the operational processes and related financial records and transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with related policies, standards, guidelines, procedures and statutory requirements while also addressing efficiency, economy and effectiveness.
- Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform financial, operational and compliance audits in accordance with best practice audit techniques.
- Plan and execute project audits to assess controls, operational efficiencies and compliance with the relevant legislation and regulatory requirements; WWF network standards; donor requirements; and internal policies and procedures.
- Document results of audit testing; develop recommendations and draft audit reports based on audit testing.
- Conduct follow-up reviews of financial, operational, regulatory compliance or donor requirement deficiencies noted during audits and report on implementation status.
- Assist in the investigation of irregularities.
- Continuously develop knowledge with regard to the external risks impacting on the work of WWF-Kenya’s operating environment and audit best practice.
- Assist the audit manager in the development of audit work plans and risk identification process.
IV. Profile:
Required Qualifications
- University degree in a business related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in internal auditing in a medium to large organisation.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), ACCA, or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is required. Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) will be an added advantage.

- A firm understanding of internal auditing standards and hands on experience with internal auditing.

V. Working Relationships:
Internal –Interacts with the WWF-Kenya Management, Heads of Departments and all staff at all levels in all locations.
External – Interacts with third party internal audit resource providers and WWF Network Internal Auditors, regulatory bodies and other conservation agencies.

Marine Project Assistant
Reports to: Marine Programme Officer
Supervises: Interns

Location: Ukunda, Kwale
Roles and responsibilities:
Programmes Development and Implementation
- Assists in Implementing sustainable fisheries, species conservation, and livelihoods initiatives for fishers in the Coastal Kenya Programme (CKP).
- Assists in Providing regular capacity building, environmental education, awareness and mentoring sessions to various community groups, volunteers and pupils in CKP.
- Prepares and presents technical reports on the progress of implementation of conservation project activities in line with WWF reporting schedule.
- Assists in developing communication materials to project work to relevant stakeholders and platforms.
- With M & E officer, assists in developing formats and checklists for participatory monitoring at all levels of the programme; design a template for database management (indicator, baseline data and targets).
- Ensures prudent management and safety of conservation assets and resources in their custody;
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Resource Management
- Assist in Implementing approved marine project budgets in line with the WWF Kenya project implementation policies and guidelines.
- Ensure prudent management and safety of assets and resources in designated areas.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in natural resource management, environmental science, marine science, aquatic ecology, biology of conservation, or related field. Other additional professional trainings in related fields will be an added advantage.
- 3 years of experience in integrated coastal and marine conservation, fisheries management, implementation of sustainable fisheries and livelihoods improvement initiatives.
- Desired- experience on working with BMUs and other marine & coast based CSOs, willingness to work in the field in the hot coastal weather and willingness to work and travel in the sea.

IT Intern
Major Function: Under the supervision of the IT Coordinator, the IT Intern will assist in the IT support function of WWF Kenya and any other office hosted by WWF Kenya.
Specific Duties:
- Supports IT department in troubleshooting and assisting users in use of systems.
- Installing, configuring and maintaining Desktops, laptops, file and print servers with the required software’s for the day to day running of the organization.
- Troubleshooting network connections and liaising with internet service providers with the intention of ensuring continuous and reliable internet connections.
- Assist all staff members in the setup of meeting rooms to ensure they can easily project their presentations and virtual meetings.
- Virtual meetings set up and supported to ensure that staff members can virtually meet seamlessly.
- Maintenance of networking devices such as routers, access points, firewalls and switches and networking them.
- Installation of data backup systems to all client’s laptops and monitor backup to ensure that critical documents are backed up.
- Install and monitor Sophos antivirus to ensure virus threats are detected and neutralized.
- Any other duties assigned by the IT Coordinator.

- 1-year experience in a busy IT environment;

- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in teams in a multi-cultural environment;
