Senior Technician (Media)

Job Description

  • Planning, designing, and supervising the collection and preparation of teaching and research materials by students to ensure the correct materials are used in the practicals in liaison with senior officers.
  • Organize induction sessions in media technology for students and staff.
  • Provide professional support to students and lecturers to improve and manage the consultancy services undertaken in the laboratories/workshops.
  • Supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate practicals in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations.
  • Facilitate, managing and administer media technology sessions and research activities.
  • Prepare work and procurement plans to ensure the timely acquisition of materials and equipment in the media lab.
  • Management, maintenance and general safe use of Educational Media Lab equipment and materials.
  • Ensure proper disposal of laboratory waste by segregating all wastes by how they are managed in order to minimize risks associated with the disposal of laboratory waste
  • Implementing the Quality Management System (QMS) and applicable standards with respect to the Educational Media Lab;
  • Supporting and facilitating the integration and use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in University teaching and learning processes;
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by a senior officer

Job Specification for Appointment 

  • Bachelor’s degree and Higher National Diploma with seven (7) years relevant experience 
  • Knowledge in information communication technology 
  • First Aid and Occupational Health and Safety Training 
  • Membership of a professional body where applicable.

Job Description for Tutorial Fellow

  • Participate in curriculum development and review. 
  • Prepare course outline to guide in the effective delivery and coverage of the syllabus.
  • Develop learning content to ensure adequate coverage of the course outline.
  • Teach Undergraduate, Diploma and Certificate courses. 
  • Set, invigilate, and administer examinations to test the understanding of course content and give progressive report to the Department.
  • Supervise students’ projects and attend defense meetings to enable them to complete their studies successfully.
  • Carry out research, prepare publications and participate in conferences to disseminate knowledge generated.
  • Attract funding to the University to support research. 
  • Facilitate field studies and assess students during attachments/trips/internships. 
  • Participate in official University meetings and functions.
  • Monitor class attendance sheets to ensure that students sitting for the examinations meet the required lecture attendance of more than four-fifth of all lectures before they can sit for their examinations. 
  • Carry out other duties & responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

Job Requirements for Appointment

  • Must have a Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
  • Be registered or ready to register for a Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree programme.
  • Demonstrate potential for university teaching and/or research during the appointment interview.

Job Description

  • Support server applications and operating systems by coding to ensure ICT infrastructure runs efficiently.
  • Maintenance of telephone systems and computer stations to keep the system running efficiently and effectively.
  • Provide helpdesk assistance in resolving network-related problems by university users.
  • Set user access, and permissions and implement firewalls and security devices to ensure network security to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Assist in maintaining both internal and external university networks.
  • Respond to service calls and emails promptly to solve any computer issues and failed processes and systems.
  • Maintain, repair, install and upgrade network and computer systems for more efficiency, faster and increased productivity by users.

Accountant I

Job Description

  • Prepare University quarterly and annual financial statements and reports to assist management in decision making
  • File statutory returns with the relevant authorities to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Prepare the finance department risk matrix and ensure that finance department members are aware of risk-prone areas to develop ways to mitigate the risk
  • Assist in the preparation of the finance department work plan and ensure adherence by the members of the department to plan for departmental activities
  • Prepare the finance department procurement plan and ensure that the University procurement plan is within the approved University budget for budgetary control
  • Supervise operations in the cash office, expenditure section, student finance and salaries section to ensure the smooth running of the operations within these sections
  • Prepare management reports to facilitate decision making
  • Conduct analysis of financial data within each section to guide future operations
  • Oversee the Maintenance of the Fixed assets register on regular basis and ensure that the assets are correctly coded to safeguard University assets
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by a senior officer

Job Requirements for Appointment

  • Master’s degree in finance or accounting field from a recognized institution 
  • CPA III 
  • At least four (4) years’ work experience as an Accountant II or a comparable position. 
  • Membership registration with ICPAK or any other relevant professional body 
  • Knowledge of Information Communication Technology
