Driver

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a road worthy vehicle by conducting routine check, making sure all defects are reported on time and ensuring the vehicle is serviced timely.
  • Transporting all authorized staff to various sites and events.
  • Present safety briefing to passengers prior to each trip departure.
  • Monitor fuel consumption and perform minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicles.
  • Ensure goods transported are accompanied by fully approved delivery notes / waybills.
  • Ensure the vehicle is fully equipped with first aid and road safety equipment’s.
  • Ensure fully signed fuel receipts and delivered to Finance Office along with log sheets.
  • Have a fully equipped tools kit.
  • Maintain and update the Journey log for assigned vehicle.
  • Updating the office of any issue regarding vehicle movement and safety.
  • Maintain an accurate, up-to-date record on journey log, vehicle maintenance, incidents, accident and condition reports.
  • Operate assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Read and Interpret Maps and driving directions as required.

 Qualifications:

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (‘O’ Level)
  • Motor vehicle Valid Driving License
  • Over five (5) years relevant experience in a similar position
  • Certificate of Good Conduct
  • Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge
  • Good Eyesight
  • Automotive knowledge

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing accounting procedures and processes – Maintain financial reports, records and general ledgers for consistent bookkeeping and budgetary analysis.
  • Ensure overall financial compliance – Examine tax policies, assist in tax payments/returns and preparation for audits.

National Programs Coordinator

ROLE OVERVIEW:

SCOPE OF ROLE:

  • Reports to: The National Youth Manager
  • Staff reporting to this post: Project Officers
  • Budget responsibility: None.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Program Management 

  • Assist with planning and coordinating of projects/ programs and their activities.
  • Work to keep projects/ programs on schedule, within stated budgets and functioning smoothly
  • Support program growth and development as necessary.
  • Coordinate projects/ programs internal communications.
  • Manage project officers’ work assignments, workloads, and work schedules.
  • Administer or organize fund raising operations for programs.
  • Oversee the program budget, including review of financial reports from finance officers before approval by the National Youth Manager.
  • Schedule and organize program-related meetings and events.
  • Oversee the use of technology for program operations, such as video conferencing technology, presentation software and other communications technologies.

Capacity Building:

  • Support the development of capacity building plans for youth, youth groups, youth-led and youth-serving organizations.
  • Provide regular coaching on technical and program management skills to the project officers.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Accountability and Learning

  • Monitor implementation of project/ program policies and practices to ensure quality of implementation.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:
Academic Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in any Social Sciences, Development Studies, Sociology, Public Administration and Management or related field.

Professional Qualifications/ Experience

  • At least 2 years’ experience in program management and youth development work.
  • Experience working with international donors and development partners like the USAID, Red Cross Movement, European Union, UN Agencies etc.

Road Safety Advocacy Officer

Job Summary

Reporting to the National Youth Manager(KRCS Road Safety Focal Point)  and technically working with the Policy, Advocacy and Governance Advisor, the post-holder will provide direct assistance to KRCS at the head office in Nairobi. The Officer will support the implementation of the Safe Urban Roads and Areas (SURA-K) aimed at influencing and advocating for the amendment of the speed limit legislations in Kenya.

Duty Station

  • S/he will be based at the Kenya Red Cross Headquarters, in Nairobi, with frequent travel to the field as necessary.

Key responsibilities:

  • Champion the key road safety policy messages emerging form the activities under the SURA-K Project
  • With the Program Manager and Policy, Advocacy and Governance Advisor, lead KRCS engagement with government and civil society organizations working on road safety.
  • Monitor Kenya’s road safety initiatives/ activities and identify opportunities for advancing rod safety.
  • With support from the Program Manager, lead the dissemination and advocacy of research / survey outputs from the Project activities.
  • Develop campaign briefings and related materials.
  • Contribute to consultation responses and road safety policy developments.
  • Work in collaboration with the Program Manager, Communications Officer and Policy, Advocacy and Governance Advisor
  • Support in planning and coordination of stakeholders’ engagement activities in Nairobi County
  • Assistance with KRCS events and other related tasks.
  • Ensure activities under the project are in schedule as per the approved work-plans and timelines.
  • Schedule, plan and organize project-related meetings and events with the support of the Program Manager
  • Maintain activity records, reports, presentations, and proposals.
  • Collect and highlight success stories with the support of the communications’ team.
  • Facilitate in-person workshops to participants from the Road Safety organizations/ institutions.
  • Mobilize stakeholders to take part in the workshops, consultations meetings and any other activities under the project.
  • Support logistics coordination for workshops and activities e.g. hotel bookings, purchase requests etc.
  • Identify and mitigate any potential risks to the project with support from the Program Manager
  • Perform other roles that may be assigned to you by the line manager

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • A degree in law, political science, communications or transport-related discipline

Essential Capabilities

  • Knowledge of transport, health, environment, economics, management, social policy, politics or related discipline
  • Proven communication and campaign skills
  • Excellent writing skills, particularly in an applied research situation
  • An ability to communicate specialist technical knowledge to a non-specialist audience
  • An ability to understand statistics and to clearly present key findings
  • An ability to source and analyze information from the government, academia, stakeholders, KRCS contacts and others
  • IT skills – mainly MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT and Outlook)
  • An ability to work unsupervised and to use initiative
  • Enthusiasm and the ability to take a key role in KRCS
  • A willingness to be flexible in roles and responsibilities

Desirable

  • A knowledge of road safety
