As part of strengthening our operations, we are looking for a smart, creative, futuristic, and ambitious individual to join the Digital team in the following capacity:

Reporting to the Deputy Digital Editor, this role is responsible for making sure content is fit for publication on the web and that it meets all the quality requirements needed for a smooth user experience.


• Work with Desk Editors to identify content for the paywall and subscription newsletters;

• Regularly update the website with content based on audience consumption patterns and interests;

• Make time-sensitive and small-scale adjustments to stories, correcting minor errors, and ensuring headlines are catchy and keywords are relevant;

• Work with the Intake Editor to ensure Thematic Desks produce premium content as per the set targets;

• Work closely with the Radar Desk to make sure breaking news stories are published on time with important updates and background for developing stories;

• Work with the Social Media team to ensure content is well promoted and audience feedback is factored in;

• Work closely with the Audiovisual Desk to ensure graphics, video, and audio content is uploaded on the website as per the audience growth strategy;

• Compile a weekly newsletter that will be shared with subscribers.


• A Bachelor’s degree in Media, Journalism, Mass Communication, or a related discipline from a reputable university;

• An advanced certification/diploma in digital journalism;

• At least four years relevant experience working in a busy newsroom as a writer and/ or sub-editor;

• Experience working with newsletters and communities.


• In-depth knowledge of current affairs, media trends, and social media networks;

• Understand analytics and audience consumption trends;

• Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills;

• Able to work with journalists who report for different platforms;

• Ability to make decisions under pressure;

• Creative problem-solving skills;

• An eye for detail.
