Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve guests according to the Mama Rocks Steps of Service.
  • Greet and assist guests to be seated, given a menu and to order.
  • Possess a strong understanding of the menu and products on sale and be able to communicate this to the customer and to skillfully upsell items that will enrich the customer’s experience at Mama Rocks
  • Collect, check and serve food orders promptly from the Kitchen pass.
  • Serve drinks in a presentable and timely manner.
  • Ensure guest orders are delivered within a maximum of 20 minutes and follow up if not.
  • Keep a watchful eye on guest areas to offer immediate assistance to guests
  • Present the customer with their bill in a timely and accurate manner
  • Clear and wipe down tables promptly after each guest leaves.
  • Perform service-related duties such as folding napkins, setting up the counter for operations, and menu maintenance
  • Monitor music volume and ambiance.
  • Assist at the bar counter or anywhere within the restaurant as needed on the instruction of your manager..
  • Ensure restaurant cleanliness and orderliness, including floors, windows, mirrors/glass surfaces, tables and what is resting on the tables, chairs, walls, and the counter area.
  • Monitor lighting, artwork, and merchandise presentation.
  • Report maintenance issues to management promptly.
  • Maintain individual sales targets

Line Cook

  • Setting up and stocking of workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Preparing ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, making beef patties etc.)
  • Cooking food  with various utensils or grillers
  • Check food while cooking to stir or turn
  • Flexible to help with morning prep
  • Follow FIFO and best practice and safety standards
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen team
  • Answer report and follow instructions from Kitchen Supervisor and Lead Line Cook
  • Clean up work station
  • Stock inventory appropriately
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
  • Keep a sanitised and orderly environment in the kitchen
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Check quality of ingredients
  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers and customers
  • Monitor stock and alert Kitchen Supervisor of any shortages



  • Ensure the kitchen is clean, well maintained and organised at all times.
  • Ensure floors are dry and clean at all times.
  • Operate pot-washing machinery and maintain a hygienic working environment in accordance with hygiene regulations and company standards.
  • Adhere to all sanitation guidelines.
  • Assist the Cooks and Servers as and when necessary.
  • Collects and removes trash from all areas of the operation following established procedures.
  • Dispose of waste as per the hotel and authority standards and Adhere to recycling guidelines.
  • Ensure waste bin area is kept clean and tidy.
  • Carry out general cleaning as directed to include sweeping, mopping up, washing up, emptying of rubbish bins and boxes ensuring placement in the correct containers
  • Cleans and sanitizes pots, pans, utensils, and other minor equipment routinely used in the kitchen following established procedures.
  • Cleans and maintains floors and walls in kitchen and dish washing area by following standard procedures.
  • Cleans and sanitizes dishes and related serviceware following established procedures.
  • Cleans large equipment as assigned, following established procedures.
  • Consistently adheres to SDS (Safety Data Sheet) information related to the proper and safe use of chemicals in the workplace.
  • Knowledge and proficiency to operate industrial dish washers.
  • Ensure all equipment is clean and in good working order.
  • Check all chemical levels and inventory.
  • Wash, Wipe, Sort, stack dishes, and load/unload dishwasher
  • Wash, Wipe, Sort, stack and store all cleaned items in an organised and safe manner.
  • If any breakages or chipped items found then remove them from circulation and update the breakage and inventory register.
  • Clean, sanitise and close workstations.
  • Uses and maintains all equipment’s according to manufacturer and department guidelines.
  • Report any maintenance or hazard issues to the chief steward / stewarding manager.
  • Assist in light food preparation as directed by manager or chef on duty.
  • Assist in serving food and beverages to the residents in the dining room.
  • The Kitchen Steward, upon demonstrated job performance excellence, will be considered for numerous growth opportunities.
  • Always Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Cleaning the hood filter( as per company policy)
  • Set up the restaurant and banquet buffet.
  • Organising the China room or Storage 
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Taking orders at the counter and assisting guests.
  • Billing correctly and processing change promptly and correctly.
  • Multi-tasking / Acts as a hostess when necessary
  • Dispensing orders from the counter station.
  • Ensuring take-away orders are dispensed promptly and correctly.
  • Assists in service operations e.g. folding serviettes, cutlery , specials, counter set ups, checking and cleaning menus, take away packaging.
  • Ensuring there is enough change at all times
  • Ensuring the minimum cash float is maintained at the cash till for safety purposes.
  • Ensure cash is placed in the drop box safe – well recorded, labeled and sealed.
  • Answer the phone, for take away orders or any other business correctly and fast / Telephone etiquette to be observed.
  • Ensure all take away phones and tablets are well charged and functioning.
  • Maintaining shift float money and ensuring no shortages
  • Ensures all bills are settled and correct change given
  • Assist at the barista counter or in the restaurant when the need arises
  • Assist in food dispatch and coordination.
  • Has to be well versed in menu and product knowledge
  • Carry out any other task as may be instructed by superiors
