    Job Summary
    Reporting to the Senior Engineering Technician (Mechanical), the Engineering Technician (Mechanical) will be responsible for coordinating routine, corrective and preventive maintenance
    of vessels and equipment onboard ferries.
    Key Responsibilities
     Prepare defects list for vessels’ dry docking;
     Prepare and submit daily and monthly vessel maintenance reports;
     Overhaul engines, propellers, pumps, power generating sets, and other equipment;
     Initiate safety procedures onboard a vessel in case of emergency and;
     Initiate development of procurement plans for the mechanical section in the engineering department.
    Required qualifications and experience
     Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field from a recognized institution;
     Standard Training for Certification and Watch keeping (STCW);
     Must be a holder of certificate of competency as Second Class Engine Officer (Port Operations);
     Marine Equipment Specialist Certificate will be an added advantage; and Must have a minimum of (three) 3 years relevant working experience preferably in marine
    transport.

    Job Summary
    Reporting to the Senior Engineering Technician (Welding & Fabrication), the Welding & Fabrication Technician will be responsible for co-coordinating welding and fabrication works in the engineering &
    maintenance department.

    Job Summary
    Reports to Senior Engineering Technician (Welding & Fabrication) and will be responsible for the routine cleanliness of the Engine rooms and maintenance of records on fuels and lubricants.

     Cleaning of deck, engine rooms, bilges, tanks, void spaces and ship sides
     Carries out oiling and greasing and fueling of ferries
     Maintains logs and records of fuels and lubricants

  5. Senior Operations Officer (Coxswain)- Grade FM4: Post Ref: 1000-03/2020- 1 Post
    Job Summary
    Reporting to the Principal Operations Officer, the Senior Operations Officer (Coxswain) will be responsible for acting as a link between the coxswains and the senior management in providing the technical aspect of ferry operations and ensuring smooth operations of the fleet for safe crossing of ferry users.
    Key Responsibilities
     Participate in the development of the department’s work plan and budget;
     Participate in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual department reports;
     Mentor and Coach departmental staff;
     Participate in the implementation of the performance management system in the department;
     Participate in departmental meetings;
     Participate in committee meetings as appropriate;
     Coordinate movement of available ferries in operation;
     Consolidate traffic sheets and pre-sea checks for records taking and ferry performance;
     Monitor flow of traffic to ensure safe service;
     Provide a link between engineering and operation department through meetings; and
     Prepare duty rota and leave schedule for the coxswains.
    Required qualifications
     Is a holder of Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in social science/ management preferably in nautical science or maritime studies or related field from a recognized university or institution;
     Has at least five (5) years working experience for degree holders, and seven (7) years working experience for diploma holders, with at least three years served as a Master or similar role in the marine transport industry;
     Must be a holder of Certificate of Competency as Master (Port Operations) or its equivalent;
     Professional training in transport and logistics is an added advantage; and
     Must be a member of a relevant professional body.

    Job Summary

    Job Summary
    Under the supervision and mentorship of a Master Coxswain, the intern coxswain shall navigate the ferry across the designated channel in order to meet customers’ requirements that is, ferrying passengers, vehicles and goods across the channel in a scheduled time.

  10. Senior Ramp Controller – Grade FU1–Ref: 1000/45/2020 – 1 Post
    Job Summary

    Reporting to the Assistant Operations Officer, the Senior Ramp Controller will be responsible for ensuring safe loading of both vehicles and human traffic on a waiting ferry in regard to the segregation procedures.
    Key Responsibilities
     Arrange vehicles and other automobiles on the ramp motor lanes in their categories, before boarding a ferry;
     Direct and guide embarking vehicles, motor cycle, bikes, handcarts, and pedestrians to a waiting ferry, observing segregation procedure;
     Coordinate with the coxswain on the timely movement of the operating ferries guiding on safe landing of ferries
     Oversee both safety and security at the ramp approaches and attending to any incident; and
     Orient and train new recruits.
     instructs security assistants when to open and close pedestrian gates during loading of ferry
     Liaise with security guards on crowd control at the ramps
    Required qualifications and experience

  12. Database and Network Administrator – Grade FM5 – Post Ref: 3000/04 2020- 1 Post
    Job Summary
    Reporting to ICT Officer and will be responsible for ensuring system and network administration IT and ERP support.
    Key Responsibilities
     Direct smooth and efficient running of all IT systems;
     Oversee availability of KFS databases (Microsoft SQL server database), ACCPAC financial system, payroll system and point of sale system;
     Ensure availability and accessibility of the company’s LAN and WAN. This involves designing, developing and maintaining computer networks;
     Maintain computer work stations, servers, printers, routers;
     Implement IT system security in the organization; and
     Ensure computer security, antivirus and apply patches on operating systems and office
    application.
    Required qualifications and experience
     Bachelors degree in Information Technology or related field from a recognized University;
     Postgraduate degree and professional certificates such as MCSE, CCNA, ITIL, CISA, CGEIT, CISM will be an added advantage;

    Job Summary
    Reports to Senior Accountant and is responsible for ensuring an effective management of accounts payable in the organization and ensures accurate and complete records of all creditors’ transactions.
    Key Responsibilities
     Verify invoices raised in procurement to ensure timely capture of data;
     Make entries of all creditors records in the accounting system;
     Reconcile creditors’ accounts;
     Address queries raised by creditors and escalate issues that cannot be solved at this level;
     Daily data entry of cash books;
     Daily and monthly bank reconciliations using online (internet banking system);
     Post payment through on-line payment system (e-payment);
     File and store documents; Write cheques;
     Prepare E-payment file;
     Maintain petty cash float;

    Job Summary
    Reports to Accountant Assistant (Revenue) and is responsible for supervision of revenue collection activities by Toll Cashiers.
    Key Responsibilities
     Check on tickets validity and fill in the check list;
     Prepare occurrence reports;
     Extract daily sales and units reports;
     Check on the validity of ferry passes;
     Follow up on motorists who evade paying toll charges do not go away without paying;
     Monitoring toll cashiers;
     Advice toll cashiers on when to ticket heavy trucks;
     Issue stationeries to toll cashiers, i.e. manual toll, receipts, checklist, pens where there is a system
    failure; and
     Enforce penalties where necessary.
    Required qualifications and experience

     Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD) or equivalent; and

    HUMAN RESOURCE AND ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT

    Job Summary
    Reporting to the Principal Human Resource Officer, the Senior Administrative Assistant will be responsible for administration of key essential services and utilities in the organization. Key Responsibilities
     Ensure all employees in the Department have working spaces and necessary tools;

    Reporting to the Senior Administrative Assistant, the General Ferry Attendant will be responsible for creating a healthy, safe and clean environment to achieve company objectives.

     Wash and sweep vessels cabins and toll collection booths;

     Drain vessels and booths during rainy season;

     First Aid Course from St. John Ambulance or KIHBT or any other recognized institution;

  17. Procurement & Supplies Assistant – Grade FU1- Post Ref:5000-06/2020- 1 Post
    Job Summary
    Reporting to Senior Procurement Officer and will be responsible for providing a backup in the duties of the Procurement/Supplies Officers through the Head of the Procurement and Supplies function.
    Key Responsibilities
     Process documents regarding procurement;
     Process quotations;
     Receive and issue physical goods, works and services;
     Man storage units;
     File, store and retrieve procurement records;

    SAFETY SECTION
  18. Safety Officer – Grade FM5- Post Ref:9000-02/2020- 1 Post
    Job Summary
    Reporting to Senior Safety Officer and will be responsible for guiding, liaising, coordinating and advising the company on matters relating to safety and health at the workplace.
    Key Responsibilities
     Implement and enforce safety standards for safe operation of the ferry services;
     Ensure that all the safety equipment both off-shore and on-board the ferries are in safe custody and in proper working condition;
     Audit of safety equipment on-board for safety inspection for the purposes of ferry craft annual licensing;
     Investigate and make reports on accidents and inform relevant authorities and recommend necessary action to prevent recurrence of the same;
     Develop a self-regulating disaster preparedness policy; and
     Design safety information for ferry users and organize mock emergency drills for
    regular ferry users.
    Required Qualifications and Experience
     Bachelor’s degree in Physical Sciences or related field from a recognised university.
     Professional diploma in safety, preferably in marine safety or related field from a recognized
    institution.
     Standard Training for Certification and Watch keeping (STCW)
     3 years relevant working experience preferably in marine industry;
    SECURITY SECTION
  19. Security Assistant 1 – Grade FU1- Post Ref:8000-03/2020- 1 Post
    Job Summary
    The Security Assistant I will be reporting to the Security Officer and will be responsible for overseeing efficiency of day to day security activities within the Kenya ferry area as a whole.
    Key Responsibilities
     Spearhead security operations within the area of operation sanctioned by the senior security officer in consultation with the National Police service officer
     Continuously gather information and intelligence with security bearing and share the same with the security office.
     Carry out investigations of security incidences within the institution and present findings to the relevant office for action
     Conduct regular briefing sessions to outsourced security personnel on processes, procedures and other pertinent issues for purposes of improving service delivery
     Ensure proper utilisation of security infrastructure including security equipment and conducting regular checks to ensure equipment and other infrastructure is in good working condition and appropriate report to relevant office for intervention in case of problems  Conduct spot checks on deployment of outsourced security personnel for compliance with contract agreement, make reports out of the findings and forward the same to relevant office
     Check and confirm records kept by security guards to ensure they are kept according to the required standards and make report on the same;
     Check daily attendance and deployment schedule of security guards and any other security personnel and filing of records as required
     Inform and advice security officer on any security related matter that may be of importance to
    the company;
    Required Qualifications and Experience
     Kenya Secondary Certificate of Education;
     Higher Diploma in Security Management;
     Must have actively served with the National Police Service, KDF or NYS as an Non
    Commissioned Officer;
     Standard Training for Certification and Watch keeping (STCW);
     At least 3 years working experience as an NCO; and
     Must be Computer Literate
