The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), is established under the Environmental Management and Co-ordination Act No. 8 of 1999 (EMCA) as the principlal instrument of Goverment for the implementation of all policies relating to environment.

Supply Chain Management Assistant

Job Responsibilities

Responsibility

  • Preparing stores requisitions;
  • Updating the stores /stocks cards;
  • Checking the stationery issued against requisition made;
  • Preparing stores requisitions for the items which have reached their minimum stock levels
  • Ensuring the quality of goods delivered by suppliers are of the right/required quality;
  • Delivering stores to other departments/divisions;
  • Preparing payment vouchers for suppliers
  • Distributing quotations requests

Qualification

  • Diploma or Higher diploma in Purchasing and Supplies Management or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
  • Proficiency in computer applications
  • A minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience in public service or private sector
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

Internal Auditor II

Job Responsibilities

Responsibility

  • Reviewing internal control systems in operations and reporting on any weaknesses;
  • Carrying out risk assessment
  • Reviewing working papers and draft audit reports;
  • Executing audit programmes;
  • Verifying the existence and safety of Authority’s assets;
  • Ensuring completeness and accuracy of records and reports;
  • Ensuring implementation of policies, procedures and regulations on financial and other operational systems, including computer systems;
  • Collecting evidence on major issues,
  • Undertaking investigations and preparing audit reports;
  • Holding discussions with clients.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Proficiency in computer applications
  • Experience in accounting or auditing field the Public Service or Private Sector will be an added advantage;
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Legal Officer

Responsibility

  • Conducting legal research and drawing up legal opinions on policy matters relating to the Authority
  • Assisting in the development of by-laws/guidelines and ensuring their conformity with the Environmental Management and Co-ordination Act (EMCA), 1999;
  • Negotiating and drafting legal documents which include contractual agreements
  • Representing the Authority in judicial and quasi-judicial proceedings

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution
  • Current practicing certificate
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
  • Proficiency in computer applications
  • Three (3) years working experience in legal practice in the Public Service or Private Sector
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the constitution

Principal Environmental Planning Officer

Job Responsibilities

Responsibility

  • Coordinating formulation of the National Environment action plan
  • Providing technical backstopping in the preparation of County Environment Action Plan
  • Coordinating Review of the Environment Action Plans Preparation Guidelines
  • Integration of environmental concerns into plans, projects, and activities
  • Participating in monitoring implementation of environmental action plans
  • Identifying of Environmentally Significant Areas (ESAs)
  • Coordinating the preparation of Ecosystems Management Plans;
  • Supporting the preparation of state of environment reports;
  • Preparation of work plans, Performance Contract and progress reports for the department;
  • Examining land use patterns to determine their impacts on the quality and quantity of natural resources

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Env. Planning and Management, Env. Sciences,Natural Resources Management,Community Development,Geo-Informatics,Urban Planning,Development Studies or any other relevant field
  • Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Environmental Planning and Management, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources, Urban Planning, Development Studies or any other relevant field from a recognized institution
  • Management course lasting not less four (4) weeks from a recognized institution
  • Proficiency in Computer Applications
  • A minimum of eight (8) years’ relevant work experience in environmental field and at least three (3) Years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution
  • Good Communication skills
  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results

Deputy Director Environmental Education, Information & Awareness

Job Responsibilities

Responsibility

  • Facilitating Environmental Education
  • Enhancing public awareness and Information on environmental issues
  • Mobilizing the public to participate in environmental conservation and management
  • Coordinating Development of Environmental Content for publicity materials
  • Collation and dissemination of environmental information
  • Publication of Articles
  • Establishment of National Information and Documentation Centres
  • Promoting Best Environmental practices
  • Coordinating establishment and operationalization of Demonstration Centres
  • Spearheading preparation and participation of the Authority in selected international and national environmental days and events
  • Promoting partnerships with relevant stakeholders in environmental management and conservation
  • Coordinating environmentaql education awareness programmes
  • Coordinating curriculum development on environmental matters for capacity building
  • Monitoring and evaluation of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) programmes
  • Enhancing compliance promotion in industry
  • Promoting natural resource management
  • Implementing environmental Award schemes
  • Enhancing capacity of Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Counties on environmental sustainability
  • Enhancing capacity of NEMA staff and lead agencies on Basic Enforcement Course (BEC)/Principles of compliance and enforcement
  • Managing environmental information and demonstration centers
  • Coordinating academic visits by the public to enhance environmental management
  • Coordinating implementation of relevant Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs)

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields; Environmental Education, Environmental Sciences; Education, Natural Resources Management; Sociology, Community Development, or any other relevant qualifications from a recognized institution;
  • Masters Degree in any of the following field: Env. Education, Env. Law. Env. Policy; Education; Env. Education, Env. Sciences; Natural Resources Management; Sociology, Community Development,development studies or any other relevant qualification
  • Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution
  • Proficiency in computer applications
  • A minimum period of ten (10) years relevant work experience in environmental field and at least four (4) years in management role in the Public Service or Private Sector
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
  • Good communication skills
  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in the work performance and results
  • Planning & Coordination skills

Driver III

Responsibility

  • Being competent in driving vehicles and capable of detecting common mechanical faults;
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of vehicles;
  • Carrying out minor repairs including oiling and greasing;
  • Maintenance of work ticket for vehicle assigned and ensuring safety of the vehicle on and off the road
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the assigned vehicle.
  • Messengerial duties which include delivering mail and picking mail from post office and other offices

Qualification

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution
  • Kenya Government Occupational Trade test III
  • Passed the Suitability Test for Drivers from the Ministry responsible for roads and driving function
  • PSV license.
  • Valid driving license free from any current endorsements
  • Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from a recognized Institution
  • At least five (5) years active driving experience.
  • Adequate knowledge of the Highway Code
  • Certificate of Good Conduct from Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

Environmental Research Officer

Responsibility

  • Drafting/compiling reports on environmental complains reported in the media
  • Research and compilation of NECC component of the state of environment report
  • Carrying out investigative field visits on complains received by NECC
  • Conducting research, investigations and surveys in the field of environment.
  • Compiling research findings.
  • Managing case documents, evidence items and samples before and after analysis
  • Preparing work plans and budgets for NECC activities.
  • Participating in public hearings
  • Participating in environmental case discussions and hearings
  • Collecting, tabulating and recording data on environmental complaints
  • Developing a data base on environmental information
  • Preparing periodic reports and findings on complaints
  • Supervising researchers working under him or her

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Env. Sciences, Env. Studies, Community Development, Natural Resources Management, Geo-informatics, Env. health and Safety, Biological and Physical Sciences, Biostatistics or any other relevant fi
  • Proficiency in computer application.

Environmental Research Officer II

Responsibility

  • Interviewing complainants who visits NECC
  • Participating in on site investigation visits
  • Participating in public hearing
  • Preparing annual reports, state of the environment reports and case reports
  • Preparing workshop reports on behalf of the Committee
  • Collecting, collating, analyzing and presenting environmental information/data.
  • Collecting, tabulating and recording data on environmental complaints
  • Conducting research, investigations and surveys in the field of environment
  • Compiling research findings.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines;Env. Sciences,Env. Studies,Community Development,Natural Resources Management,Geo-informatics,Env. health and Safety,Biological and Physical Sciences,Biostatistics or any other relevant field
  • Proficiency in computer application.

Environmental Research Assistant

Responsibility

  • Receiving and recording complains at NECC
  • Interviewing complainants who visits NECC
  • Participating in on site investigation visits
  • Participating in public hearing
  • Assisting in collecting, collating, analyzing and presenting environmental information/data
  • Assisting in conducting research, investigations and surveys in the field of environment
  • Assisting in compiling research findings
  • Daily office maintenance
  • Receiving and dispatching of office mails
  • Assisting in compiling and summarizing of reports
  • Maintaining the NECC Registry

Qualification

  • Diploma in any of the following disciplines: – Env. Sciences,Env. Studies, Community Development,Natural Resources Management,Geo-informatics,Env. health and Safety, Biological and Physical Sciences, Biostatistics or any other relevant field
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Working experience in environmental field will be an added advantage

Accountant III

Responsibility

  • Cost and management accounting
  • Preparation of Budget
  • Preparation of various management reports
  • Collation of financial estimates
  • Determination of aggregate expenditure
  • Preparation of accounting records for financial audits and supervision of revenue
  • Verifying vouchers and accounting documents in accordance with laid down rules and regulations.
  • Capturing and maintaining primary records such as cash books, ledgers, vote books and registers.
  • Ensuring safe custody of records and assets.

Qualification

  • Part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Proficiency in computer applications
  • Experience in accounting or auditing field in public service or private sector will be an added advantage
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
