Microsoft Windows Engineer

Responsibilities

As an engineer on the team, you will characterize how software and hardware behave (both locally and at scale) through analysis of telemetry/trace data, identify issues/opportunities and work with the feature teams to evaluate/implement optimizations, across the software/hardware stack for Windows and Devices. Your work will range from improving customer satisfaction along the dimensions of performance, power and reliability delivering optimizations. The set of tools/technologies we use to achieve our objectives include C, C++, C#, scripting, kernel code, Cosmos/Kusto/Asimov and trace processing applications in Azure, python, machine learning models (linear regression and others), Power BI, statistics, Windows Performance Analyzer, ETW tracing, low-level silicon and OS tools and power instrumented hardware. You will play a direct role in enabling critical initiatives for Microsoft’s success in a variety of form factors and platforms. 

Qualifications

Required: 

  • 7+ years of software development experience.

Preferred: 

  • Analysis capabilities towards optimizing systems. 
  • Knowledge of power or performance areas. 
  • Solid design, programming, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (C, C++). 
  • BS degree in CS or related engineering field. 
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and prioritize investments leveraging data. 
  • Strong technical leadership and collaboration/communication skills. 

Microsoft Windows Subsystem for Android Engineer

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with our product and design teams to build new and innovative application experiences for android.​
  • Implement custom native user interfaces using the latest Android programming techniques.​
  • Build reusable Android software components for interfacing with our back-end platforms. ​
  • Analyze and optimize UI and infrastructure application code for quality, efficiency, and performance. ​
  • Collaborate with Product Designers and Product Managers to deliver compelling consumer-facing products on the Android Platform. ​
  • Architect efficient and reusable front-end abstractions that drive complex Android UI’s. ​
  • Engage with designers in discussions about product and interaction design.​
  • Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues.​

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of object-oriented software development experience​
  • 5+ years of experience in building Android applications in Kotlin and java.​
  • 5+ years mobile application development experience (Android, J2ME or iOS)​
  • Experience in understanding large code bases, including API design techniques to help keep them maintainable.​
  • Experience partnering with designers to implement designs​
  • Knowledge with Android UI design principles and accessibility best practices.​
  • Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.​
  • Experience with multithreading programming and mobile memory management.​
  • Experience in C++ and Swift an Added Advantage.​
