Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Officer EA & Yemen (Kenyan Nationals Only)


Generic responsibilities

  1. Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
  2. Support and contribute to the development and implementation of M&E systems, including M&E tools and guidance material.
  3. Support programme staff in planning for and executing M&E activities, including, data collection methodology and tools and data management

Specific responsibilities

  • Design, development and maintenance of dashboards in Microsoft PowerBI
  • Support dashboard users, including training on use and development of PowerBI dashboards
  • Support and contribute to the development of data management and visualization systems and products, including the development of documentation, training and online / in-person support
  • Participate in the development, implementation and support of M&E-related in-house web based digital systems and products
  • Management and troubleshooting of regional online data reporting systems
  • Liaise with CO’s to determine opportunities for innovation, and improvement of existing M&E tools and products
  • Keep abreast with emerging trends by participating in, and contributing to innovation workshops/seminars and brief the RO teams accordingly
  • Participate in development of guidance and frameworks for CO procedures, policies and processes that assist in institutionalizing and supporting M&E, both at regional and country levels.

Generic professional competencies for this position:

  • Minimum 3 years of M&E experience in a humanitarian/recovery context, preferably including M&E capacity and systems development
  • Specialist in Power BI and data visualization
  • Knowledge of mobile data collection and statistical analysis tools is required

Livelihoods and Food Security Officer – Kakuma


Provide technical support in the Design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the NRC livelihood activities in Kakuma & Kalobeyei.

Explore opportunities for digital livelihoods for youths and create linkages with relevant partner organisations and online platforms in coordination with private sector actors including social enterprises

Facilitate training of programme participants on agricultural enterprises to increase income generation for the participants

Facilitate the establishment and running of workspaces for freelancing in Kalobeyei settlement and Kakuma camps for refugee and host community youths engaged in digital livelihoods.

In coordination with other LFS actors in Kakuma identify potential value chains in Kakuma, analyse them and select a few ones that NRC can focus on developing for benefits of youth groups and SMEs in the area.

Create linkages between SMEs and credit institutions and facilitate agreements on favourable lending and repayment terms.

Professional competencies

Experience working on Livelihoods or Food Security projects in a humanitarian/recovery context

Regional Advocacy Adviser EA & Yemen

General Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for adherence to relevant NRC policies, guidance and procedures
  2. Establish and strengthen strategic advocacy networks and alliances
  3. Responsible for monitoring and analysis of the humanitarian situation, emerging trends and displacement patterns as relevant 
  4. Ensure consistency of strategy and messaging across countries included in the Amplifying Advocacy for Neglected Crises project 
  5. Carry out capacity building for CO teams
  6. Carry out other duties of temporary character appointed by the Regional Head of Advocacy     

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Contribute specific deliverables to the overall strategy for the Amplifying Advocacy for Neglected Crises project
  2. Develop, steer, and implement a region-and or country specific advocacy strategy and ensure that objectives from Amplifying Advocacy for Neglected Crises project are reflected
  3. Develop, manage, and lead on specific research activities with the aim of providing analysis and evidence to support the Amplifying Advocacy for Neglected Crises project   
  4. Accountable for drafting policy and advocacy products such as briefing notes, position papers, talking points, key messages, and ad-hoc reports as relevant.
  5. Ensure internal communication and alignment with relevant NRC units and departments with the view of developing consistent policy positions.

Regional Learning & Development Adviser (L&D) EA & Yemen

General  Responsibilities

  1. Implement NRC’s systems and procedures at regional level
  2. Ensure adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines, donor requirements, national labour laws and procedures
  3. Support the development of  learning strategies and programs for the region that reflect regional priorities and are aligned to global L&D strategies and initiatives
  4. Implement various learning methods region-wide (e.g. coaching, job-shadowing, online training, TOTs for capacity building, and managing external providers)
  5. Support the assessment of systems for learning and development initiatives in the region

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Step up and strengthen the Learning and Development function in the region with the focus to shape and influence NRC Global HR Learning and development strategy.
  2. Lead the implementation of the NRC learning and development strategy.
  3. Establish and maintain a culture of learning in the RO and COs and implement plan to extract learning and development needs from WDPs, consult with team leaders/head of units/departments and advise management on individual, group and collective all staff targets.  Help management  on where to invest  the money the most.

Shelter and Settlements Specialist – Roster

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop Shelter and Settlements country strategy and develop technical guidance that are aligned with regional and global strategies and priorities
  • Follow up on compliance with contractual commitments, ensure high technical quality and synergies in project implementation
  • Identify trends technical standards and provide technical direction and project implementation support
  • Provide systematic training and build capacity of staff in S&S approaches including cash-based interventions and market-based programme
  • Contribute to fundraising, developing and revising funding proposals, budgets and donor reports
  • Represent NRC in relevant forums/clusters, including with national authorities and donors
  • Promote the rights of refugees, IDPs and returnees in line with the advocacy strategy

What you will bring

DevOps/Backend Developer D-Team

What you will do

You will work closely with other members of NRC’s D Team (Digital Transformation Team) to improve NRC infrastructure (Backbone)’s resilience, security, performance, and automation opportunities. You will provide developers with useful tooling to develop, deploy The position will also contribute to providing strategic direction, development/security standards, DevOps training for other technical staff to improve and leverage overall development practice in NRC. Some of your day-to-day tasks will include;

  • Maintain and up keeping of NRC’s Kubernetes (Staging + Production) clusters – hosting global applications, including data backup and restore functions;
  • Write manifests and manage automated deployment of application stacks to NRC’s Kubernetes clusters;
  • Setup and maintain automated CI / CD workflows (Continuous integration & continuous delivery);
  • Prepare technical documentation and specifications on a regular basis;
  • Create unit test plans; contribute to functional/UAT test plans as needed;
  • Provide technical oversight of external consultants’ work that includes custom design and assist in handover of these to NRC (to ensure long-term ownership);
  • Support the recruitment of future NRC technical staff and support the evaluation of external technical consultants;
  • Perform data migration and other integration work in a safe and controlled environment – validating these actions before going to live (production) systems;
  •  Communicate and represent NRC with partners, consultants, and service providers at a technical level.
