  • Nyayo Tea Zones Development Corporation (NTZDC) was established as a state Corporation under a Legal Gazette Notice No. 30 of 2002, revoking Legal Gazette Notice No. 265 of 1986, with the aim of promoting forest conservation by providing buffer zones of tea and fuelwood to check against human encroachment into the gazetted forests.                                                                                       
  • The Corporation’s operations are spread over nineteen (19) zones and two factories one in Nandi County and another one under completion in Kirinyaga County. The Corporation’s major activities are in tea growing, tea factory operations and local sales distribution of value-added teas.

The Corporation seeks to recruit qualified and competent Kenyan citizens to fill the following positions:  

 1. GREEN LEAF LOGISTICS COORDINATOR

JOB PURPOSE:

  • Reporting to Factory Manager, the job holder will be responsible for Coordination of green leaf collection and delivery from the Corporation’s farms and out growers to the factory.

 PRIMARY RESPOSIBILITIES:

  • Route planning
  • Ensure proper maintenance and servicing of vehicles
  • Coordination of green leaf collection and delivery
  • Proper maintenance of green leaf records
  • Effective utilization of resources and Cost Control
  • Ensure fleet availability
  • Enhanced positive corporate image
  • Preparation of relevant reports 

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent

Experience

  • Five years’ of experience in transport and logistics in busy organization

2. ASSISTANT PRODUCTION MANAGER

JOB PURPOSE:

  • Reporting to Production Manager, the job holder will be responsible for ensuring production standards, levels and targets are achieved.

 PRIMARY RESPOSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain tea production levels and targets
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and statutory requirements cpmpliance
  • Maintain and manage production records and information
  • Allocate and supervise duties and tasks
  • Timely preparation of relevant production reports
  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure adherence to National Safety Standards

 PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Food Technology or its equivalent

Experience

  • Three years’ of experience in manufacturing.

 3. SENIOR FACTORY MECHANIC (PLANT)

JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Plant Technician, the job holder will be responsible for repair and service of factory machinery and ensure safety of the machinery and equipment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to and Implement policies and strategies on machinery and equipment maintenance.
  • Develop Maintenance and servicing schedules for all factory machinery and equipment
  • Ensure timely Inspection, testing, repair, maintenance and service of factory machinery
  • Proper record keeping of all factory machinery and equipment
  • Provide guidelines and basic training on proper use and maintenance of factory equipment, boiler and machinery
  • Ensure adherence to Health safety and environmental regulations
  • Ensure provision of Safe working conditions within the factory and eliminate hazards and risks.
  • Prepare and avail information and reports on all activities

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Academic Qualifications

  • KCSE C (Plain) and above

Professional Qualification

  • Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (plant option)

Experience

  • Five(5) years’ in plant operations and maintenance.

4. ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT II

JOB PURPOSE:

  • Reporting to the Accountant, the job holder will be responsible for ensuring effective accounting of receipts and cash transactions as per approved policies, procedures and control systems in the Factory.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare timely and accurate reports.
  • Timely and accurate receipting of cash and cheques from clients.
  • Carrying out of reconciliation of receipts and banking as per approved procedures.
  • Ensuring that all cash receipts are controlled, recorded and balanced in the cash book.
  • Prompt and accurate updating of customers’ accounts and issuing of monthly statements.
  • Following up on reimbursements and surrender of imprest as per approved procedures.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Academic Qualifications

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education(K.C.S.E) C(plain)

Professional Qualification

  • CPA II

Experience

  • Three years’ of experience relevant experience.

5. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT III

JOB PURPOSE

  • Reporting to the Zone Manager, the job holder will be responsible for provision of effective office support, communication services and supplies/stores management

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensuring effective management of the office and carrying out other operations in the Zone as required.
  • Providing secretarial services filing, posting, refreshments, voucher processing, running errands.
  • Liaising with, making requisition for stock items from the Purchasing and Supplies Department at the headquarters on the required items for operations.
  • Follow up on factories, Head Office and other stakeholders on matters pending for office performance.
  • Carrying out green leaf production reconciliation against factory weights.
  • Liaising with other managers (junior or senior) on data gathering and productivity improvement.
  • Providing office administrative duties and assistance to zone/area leader.
  • Ensuring effective maintenance and cleaning of offices and maintenance of building to the required standards
  • Certifying and processing telephone, water and electricity bills for payment.
  • Ensuring safe custody of controlling stocks and monitoring consumption and levels of the stocks.
  • Procuring various materials and other supplies for the company at the most competitive prices.
  • Coordinating purchase requirements from user sections.
  • Ensuring that supplies are procured and delivered and delivered to users/sites as per requirements/schedules.
  • Receiving goods from suppliers and raising appropriate documentation.
  • Ensuring goods delivered are of required quality, quantity and price.
  • Maintaining proper stocks and layouts in the store.
  • Issuing materials from stores as per requisition.
  • Observing and complying with environmental, health and safety measures and regulations.
  • Preparing stock and supplies reports as required.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time
