Kenya Head of Marketing

Responsibilities

  • Set consumer marketing strategy. Design marketing efforts to create the best end-to-end customer journey from initial brand discovery to purchase and retention. Develop compelling campaigns that build the Tupande brand and drive sales.
  • Advise business leaders. Advise Tupande leadership and heads of six regional teams on marketing priorities and best practices. Report into our sales team leadership. Manage a significant annual marketing spend.
  • Manage marketing execution. With your team, ensure that marketing campaigns are consistent across all channels, including paid media, earned media, and direct-to-consumer. Ensure that the 2,700 person customer sales team is amplifying our main messages.
  • Build a team. Hire and manage a marketing team of four to start (marketing operations, digital advertising, and digital community management). Collaborate with our in-house creative team and manage external vendors.
  • Analyze data. Centralize data on marketing efforts across all channels and teams. Use data to recommend ways to improve the cost of customer acquisition.

Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • At least 6 years of consumer marketing experience and 3+ years in senior marketing roles.
  • Experience designing 360 campaigns in rural areas (e.g. using radio and SMS).
  • Experience in digital outreach to increase app adoption (e.g. social, SEO, Google Play store).
  • Experience managing budgets, analyzing data, and delivering revenue growth.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in a One Acre Fund country of operation required.
  • Experience in the Kenyan corporate sector and with fast-moving consumer goods.
  • Education: At a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree is required for this position.
  • Language: English required, Swahili a plus.

Kenya eCommerce Innovations Associate

Responsibilities

  • You will play a vital role in development, planning and implementation of the Tupande Online growth strategy and use data to drive continuous improvements and iterations.
  • You will drive the data strategy, act on the insights and evaluate effectiveness of the data to support the evolution of the operational, Tupande app, and sales and marketing strategy.
  • You’ll be in charge of driving and improving strategy around customer acquisition & retention and brand of our Online business unit by leading market research work to identify industry, customer & competitor trends.
  • You will manage complex projects aimed at improving customer experience and business unit sustainability.
  • You will coordinate across multiple teams and articulate the business unit’s vision and expectations to multiple stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and achieve the desired outcome.
  • You will directly manage 1-3 direct reports and invest in their professional growth.

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • 2+ years of experience in a leading role handling customer-facing channels, managing complex projects and coordinating across multiple teams.
  • Demonstrated success in setting and advancing business/ project strategies, including the ability to drive improvements and adoption of those strategies in response to an evolving situation.
  • Project management skills, including the ability to gather and use relevant data to support key decisions or judgment to drive desired outcomes. Familiarity with research methods such as human-centered design is a plus.
  • Experience in data analysis to assess key outcomes and making data-driven recommendations.
  • Enthusiasm for continuous learning, feedback, and improvement.
  • Commitment to listening and working with humility; ways of working that are respectful to all people; and that support space and voice for all diverse perspectives in our workplace.
  • Experience mentoring and supporting others to achieve their professional goals.
  • Commitment to building an inclusive and diverse team culture.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
  • English required; Kiswahili preferred.
  • A willingness to commit to living in a rural area for at least two years.

Tupande Strategy and Operations Lead

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic projects: You will report directly to the Tupande Strategy and Operations Manager and execute critical strategic projects needed in order to achieve Tupande’s vision.
  • Internal secondments: You would spend a significant portion of your time embedded fully into critical functions to provide short-term support on critical strategic projects and functions.
  • Team coordination and internal communications. You will support the activities of the Tupande leadership team and coordinate team meetings and internal communications.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with 3+ years work experience. You will have a background in managing complex projects and coordinating across multiple teams in a fast-growing organization, and a propensity for innovation. Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • Project management and stakeholder management skills. 3+ years of management consulting experience preferred.
  • Proficient at understanding motivations of different groups and teams and supporting them to work together.
  • Analytically minded, using data coupled with sound business judgement to influence business decisions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite and Google Suite.
