Aircraft Surface Technician

AIRCRAFT SURFACE TECHNICIAN -CSG 13 – FIVE (5) POSTS (Advert no. 22/2021)

Basic Salary:                       Ksh. 20,800 – 25,860 p.m.
House Allowance:              Depending on area of deployment
Commuter Allowance:     Ksh 4,000
Leave Allowance:              (Once yearly) Ksh 4,000
Terms of Service:                Permanent & Pensionable.

Duties & responsibilities:

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a more experienced officer. Specific duties and responsibilities will involve:- sanding aircraft surface prior to repairing or after primer application; masking of windows/under screens, markings and other parts to retain their originality; applying primer to sanded areas; spray painting of the aircraft; applying primer and spray finishing to aircrafts; sand blasting and applying grip system on an aircraft; repairing fiberglass components; and masking of strips and other vital configurations while the aircraft is under repair.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C- (Minus) or its equivalent qualification
2. Craft Certificate OR Grade III in any of the following fields: Aircraft Surface Finisher Technician Course, Spray Painting or Automobile Refinishing from a recognized institution.
3. Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution; and
4. Having NYSC certificates will be an added advantage.

Safety Equipment Technician

SAFETY EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN – CSG13 – SIX (6) POSTS (Advert no. 21/2021)

 Basic Salary:                       Ksh. 20,800 – 25,860 p.m.

 Commuter Allowance:     Ksh 4,000

 Leave Allowance:              (Once yearly) Ksh 4,000

 Terms of Service:                Permanent & Pensionable.

Duties and Responsibilities

This will be the entry and training grade in this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a more experienced officer. Duties and responsibilities will entail: repairing parachutes, aircraft safety belts, motor vehicle canopies and fabricating loose covers for both aircrafts and vehicles; packing parachutes/dingys for use by soldiers; storing and maintenance of parachutes; maintaining upholstery and fabrics sewing machines and carpet cleaning machines; undertaking interior finishing which include carpeting, upholstery, repairing and modifying seat cushions/covers; and determining the strength of repairing materials.

Requirements of Appointment

For appointment, a candidate must have: –

1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C- (Minus) or its equivalent qualification
2. Craft Certificate OR Grade III awarded by the National Industrial Training Authority in any of the following fields: – Cushion Making, Clothing Technology, Textile Engineering, Upholstery and Carpeting.
3. Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution; and
4. Having NYSC certificates will be an added advantage.

Motor Vehicle Mechanic III

MOTOR VEHICLE MECHANIC III – CSG 15 – ONE HUNDRED (100) POSTS (Advert no. 19/2021)

 Basic Salary:                       Ksh. 15,670 – 17,570 p.m.
 House Allowance:             Depending on area of deployment
 Commuter Allowance:     Ksh 3,000
 Leave Allowance:             (Once yearly) Ksh 4,000
Terms of Service:               Permanent & Pensionable.

Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre and the officer will work under the supervision and guidance of a senior officer. Duties entail:

1. Inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as, engine  tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
2. Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical malfunctions; replacing parts and components;
3. Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
4. Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, the candidate must have: –

1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade ‘D’ plain or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
2. Artisan National Trade Test Certificate Grade III/apprentice Certificate awarded by the National Industrial Training Authority or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution; and
3. Having NYSC certificates will be an added advantage.
