Senior Driver – 2 Posts

Job Description

Duties and responsibilities at this grade entail: –

  • Driving the Scheme’s vehicle as authorized;
  • Carrying out minor mechanical adjustments;
  • Recognizing and reporting mechanical defaults of the vehicles;
  • Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road;
  • Monitoring and reporting expiry of insurance policies for motor vehicles;
  • Supervise other drivers
  • Preparing and submitting reports on transport when need arises; and
  • Ensuring safety of passengers and/or goods therein.

Requirement for appointment
For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: –

  • A minimum period of four (4) years relevant work experience;
  • A Minimum Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education with a D+ (Plus) or its equivalent;
  • Passed the Suitability Test for Drivers from the respective Government Ministry;
  • The Occupational Trade Test III Certificate OR its Equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • A valid driving license free from any current endorsements(s) for classes of the vehicles the driver is required to drive;
  • Defensive Driving Certificate from a recognized institution
  • A valid Certificate of Good Conduct;
  • A First Aid Certificate course lasting not less than one (1) week from a recognized institution;
  • An accident free driving period of five (5) years;
  • Proficiency in computer applications; and,
  • Fulfill the requirements of Chapter- six of the constitution 

Senior Assistant Office Administrator

Job Description

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: –

Calendar and Schedule Management:

  • Efficiently managing executive calendars, scheduling appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements.
  • Proactively identifying and resolving scheduling conflicts, prioritizing appointments, and ensuring timely reminders.

Communication and Correspondence:

  • Handling incoming and outgoing communications, including emails, calls, and mail, and responding to or redirecting inquiries as necessary.

Job Description

The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail assisting in: –

  • Sourcing for goods, works and services as per the procurement law;
  • Raising purchase orders for goods and services for approval;
  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services;
  • Maintaining and update a list of prequalified suppliers;
  • Assisting in undertaking market surveys to ensure the Scheme obtains value for money;
  • Ensuring safe custody of all procurement’s records; and
  • Participating in the opening quotations.

Requirement for appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Purchasing and Supply Logistics, Business studies or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Proficiency in computer applications;
  • Member of professional body either KISM or CIPS; and
  • Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
     

Information Communications Technology Officer

Job Description

This will be the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the supervision of a senior officer:

Duties and responsibilities at this grade will entail: –

  • Developing documentation of computer programs according to instructions and specifications;
  • Installing and configuring computer systems and solutions;
  • Maintaining application systems;
  • Providing end user support and training users on effective and efficient use of ICT facilities;
  • Maintaining up to date equipment register;
  • Installing, configuring and monitoring Local Area Network components;
  • Administering and managing users in e-mail server and User applications;
  • Maintaining an up-to-date ICT equipment register and issuance register;
  • Updating and maintaining the Scheme’s website; and
  • Ensuring Business continuity by performing regular data and application backups.

Requirement for appointment

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: –

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Information Technology, Computer Science, Business IT, Software Engineering, ICT Project Management, Computer Engineering or other relevant and equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution.

Principal Accountant

 Job Description

The duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: –

  • Coordinating management accounting and preparation of final accounts and statements;
  • Ensuring timely and proper bank reconciliation;
  • Interpreting regulations of the Scheme pertaining to financial control and management;
  • Coordinating preparation of budgets based on work plans;
  • Ensuring provision of accurate timely reliable financial information as well as timely submission of annual financial statements of accounts;
  • Organizing and coordinating responses to audit queries;
  • Interpreting financial policies for sound accounting principles, practices and control and management of corporate tax, vat and other statutory deductions.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance to tax regulations and all other statutory & regulatory requirements; and
  • Ensuring proper accounting for funds and maintenance of books of accounts.

Requirement for appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  • A minimum period of eight (8) years relevant work experience, three (3) years of which must have been in a supervisory role;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Business
  • Management or its equivalent qualifications from a eecomuzed institution;
  • Master’s degree in any of the fol! e merce, Accounting, Business Administration,
  • Finance or their equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (CPAK), or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Membership of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) in good standing;

Principal Scheme Administration Officer (Benefits Administration)

Job description

Duties and responsibilities will entail assisting in

  • Initiating, developing, implementing and reviewing Scheme Administration Policies, regulations, strategies, guidelines and programmes on Benefits;
  • Verifying legitimate retiree, beneficiary and dependant (s);
  • Verifying computation of benefits;
  • Processing payments of benefits to the retiree, beneficiary and/or dependants;
  • Developing and reviewing mechanism to facilitate members access statement of their retirement savings accounts; and providing guidance to members in interpreting their benefit options and premiums for regular payments.

Requirement for appointment

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: –

  • A minimum period of eight (8) years in relevant work experience and at least three (3) years in supervisory role in a position in the Public Service or Private Sector;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Human Resources Management, Commerce, Actuarial Sciences, Economics, Insurance, Business Administration, Procurement, Education, Public Administration or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: – Human Resources Management, Commerce, Actuarial Sciences, Economics, Insurance, Business Administration, Procurement, Education, Public Administration or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;

Principal Investment Officer

Job Description

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail;

  • Monitoring the implementation of investment strategy and performance of theasset portfolio of the Scheme and recommend areas of review:
  •  Initiate development, implementation and review of policies, regulations, strategies, guidelines and programmes pertaining to investments of the scheme:
  • Carrying out research and feasibility studies on potential investment opportunities and options in consultation with the Fund Manager;
  • Developing investment strategies for the Scheme;
  • Monitoring investment market trends to ensure maximization of returns on
  • investment in Consultation with the Fund Manager;
  • Identifying potential risks on the Scheme’s investments and recommend intervention measures;
  • Setting up and maintaining investment records and database;
  • Designing strategies for diversification of the Scheme’s investments in consultation with the Fund Manager;
  • Verifying records pertaining to the investment in terms of property and asset development;
  • Designing strategies for protection of investments and expansion of capital plough-back for the Scheme;
  • Analysing periodic reports from the Fund Manager on investment for the benefit of Scheme members;
  • Facilitate constant updates that are insightful and informative on economic trends.
  • Monitor custodian activity with the aim of ensuring all investment returns are received and that asset records are up to date.
  • Identify and review potential risks on the Schemes investments and recommend intervention measures;
  • Fast track release of funds from the Custodian to the Fund Manager for investment;
  • Ensure establishment, maintenance and safe custody of records and data base pertaining to all the Scheme’s investments;
  • Ensure compliance and data security within the department:
  • Preparing periodic reports on the Schemes investments;
  • Preparing work plans and setting performance targets;

Requirement for appointment

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: –

Education and Experience

  •  A minimum period of eight (8) years in relevant work experience and at least three (3) years of which should be in supervisory role in investment management, preferably in the pension fund industry or a related field;
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: – Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, Commerce, Finance, Business Administration or any other relevant qualifications from a recognized institution;
  • Master’s Degree in any of the following fields: – Economics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Business Administration or any other relevant qualifications from a recognized institution;
  • Professional qualification or pursuing Professional Qualification as a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CIFA or its equivalence
  • Registered membership of a recognized professional body
  • Proficiency in computer application skills;

Investment Knowledge

  • Professional competence and administrative capability for effective coordination of the investment and property administration function
  • In-depth understanding of pension fund investment strategies, asset allocation, risk management, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in analysing and evaluating investment opportunities across various asset classes, such as equities, fixed income, alternative investments, and real estate.
  • Ability to stay up-to-date with market trends, economic indicators, and regulatory changes affecting pension fund investments.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing investment portfolios and achieving strong returns.

Leadership and Communication:

  • Management training from a recognized institution 
  • Supervisory skills with the ability to effectively manage a team of investment professionals
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate investment strategies, performance, and risks to stakeholders, including pension fund trustees, management, and external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with external investment managers, consultants, and other relevant industry professionals.
  • Thorough understanding of national goals, policies and objectives and ability to relate them to the core business of the Scheme; and, Meets the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution.

Analytical and Presentation Skills:

  • Analytical skills to conduct in-depth investment research, due diligence, and risk analysis.
  • Proven ability to develop investment strategies that align with the long-term objectives of the pension fund.
  • Ability to develop and present reports based on thorough analysis and risk assessment to inform investment decisions

Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge:

  • Understanding of relevant investment regulations, pension fund governance, and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Experience in ensuring compliance with applicable investment guidelines, reporting requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with pension fund accounting practices and reporting standards.

Adaptability and Continuous Learning:

  • Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and adjust investment strategies accordingly.
  • Eagerness to stay updated with industry best practices, emerging trends, and new investment instruments.

Principal Legal Officer

Job Description

Duties and responsibilities will entail: –

  • Implementing and reviewing the Corporation’s legal policies and procedures;
  • Providing legal risk reviews and providing legal advice on risk mitigation;
  • Representing the Scheme in Court matters and managing litigation on behalf of the Scheme under the conduct of external counsel;
  • Participating in developing and ensuring compliance with the Scheme’s Policies and strategies;
  • Undertaking legal research and preparing legal opinions and memoranda on matters relating to the Scheme;
  • Drafting contracts, internal policies and ensuring that they are in compliance with all statutory requirements;
  • Vetting and negotiating contracts, formal agreements and other legal instruments to meet the laid down requirements for execution;
  • Initiating required legislation amendments for the promotion of the Scheme’s activities; and
  •  Assisting the Corporation Secretary in offering Board secretarial Services.

Requirement for appointment

For appointment to this Grade, a candidate must have: –

  • At least six (6) years of experience, three (3) of which must be in a supervisory position,
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution,
  • Master’s Degree in Law (LLM) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Laws from the Council of Legal Education,
  • Membership to the Law Society of Kenya and in good standing,
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya,
  • Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution; .
  • Valid and current Practicing Certificate,
  • Proficiency in Computer Applications and
  • Meets requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
