Dental Assistant, Outreach Clinic Meru

Responsibilities:

  • Support dental care delivery by preparing treatment room, instruments and materials by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
  • Prepare patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, review the health form and draping patient.
  • Assemble instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area, positioning instruments for dentists’ access, suctioning and passing instruments.
  • Apply the four-handed/ Four-eyes dentistry concept.
  • Assist the dentist by mixing materials.
  • Provide diagnostic information by capturing intra oral photo studies, pulp vitality testing and pouring, trimming and polishing study casts.
  • Assist with specialty procedures which include periodontal therapy, endodontic, prosthodontics, oral surgery and implant placement as well as restoration.
  • Fabricating temporary restoration, shade selection and cleaning and polishing removable appliances.
  • Educate patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control and postoperative instructions including medication prescribed by the dentist.
  • Document dental care services by charting in patient records on dental software.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations as per hospital policy.
  • Ensure operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories and evaluating new equipment and techniques.   
  • Maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies and verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Conserve dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Responsible for laboratory maintenance, dental clinical and record keeping. 
  • Follow up on external dental Lab work.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Dental Assisting
  • 2 years’ work experience as a Dental Assistant.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)

Research Assistant Nurse, Institute of Human Development

Job Summary

  • To assist with assessments and nursing care to study participants in various studies within IHD. The data collection will take place within the hospital facilities and schools. The Nurses will be expected to work with the hospital and school members of staff to ensure data collection and recruitment, while observing adherence to standard operating protocols for the specific studies and school and hospital requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with nursing and medical care particularly for people visiting neurodevelopmental and neurological outpatient clinics;
  • Screen and identify eligible participants among children at homes, schools and hospitals;
  • Provide information, education and support to families or guardians of potentially eligible research participants;
  • Administer the informed consent process for the NeuroDev study;
  • Assist in collection of sociodemographic and phenotype data, using research electronic data capture software;
  • Assist in collection of blood and saliva samples for genetic studies, while ensuring proper storage and transport; and
  • Foster good working relations with hospital’s nursing and clinical team and be willing to participate in continuous medical education (CME) activities in mental/neurological health care.

Requirements

  • A Diploma in Nursing or clinical medicine with a current registration with the relevant professional bodies;
  • Some research background will be desirable;
  • At least 2 years’ experience in clinical care/ nursing or research studies;
  • Experience of care for children and adolescents with behavioural or neurological disorders will be desirable
  • Flexible – able to work extra hours when needed;

Administrative Associate, Institute of Human Development

Job Summary

  • To assist in overall coordination of all the study activities including organizing meeting, preparing training schedules, booking of meeting venue, event management and any other duties assigned to ensure the smooth running of the Programme.

Responsibilities

  • Providing high-level administrative support and assistance to the Project Director;
  • Planning and implementation of project activities;
  • Managing project calendar effectively to make sure everything functions smoothly;

  • Either a Bachelor’s degree in the Business Management, Commerce, Project Planning and Management, or related field with at least 2 years’ experience as an Administrative Assistant / Office Manager / Scheduling Coordinator / Project Coordinator, OR Diploma in Business Management, Commerce, Project Planning and Management, or related field with at least 4 years’ experience as an Administrative Assistant / Office Manager / Scheduling Coordinator / Project Coordinator;
  • Experience coordinating or supporting a research project;
  • Experience in drafting and presenting basic project reports;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and familiarity with online document storage platforms such as OneDrive and Dropbox; and
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural setting.

  • Experience working in the field of public health, early childhood, mental health, adolescent health, and/or disabilities is an advantage;
