Assistant Director Counselling Services

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will be responsible for: –

  • initiating and preparing Departmental advisory meetings; 
  • following-up on counselling development projects in the field;
  • monitoring, implementation and evaluation of accounting and management systems as well as guidelines for counselling;
  • providing counsellor supervision to field officers to ensure that counselling activities are conducted efficiently;
  • keeping appropriate records;
  • conducting research in counselling and
  • supervising staff working under the officer.
  • In addition, the officer will; provide guidance and counselling services to employees; promote personal and social development  appropriate  to  career development;  provide  appropriate interventions to assist employees with psycho-social related problems; identify employees  with  social,  psychological  or  health  related  problems;  planned organized seminars and workshops on guidance and counselling matters.

Requirements for Appointment 

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: 

  • Ten (10) years of working experience of which three (3) should be in a Managerial position in the Public Service or Private Sector;
  • Master’s Degree in Counselling or a Master’s Degree in any of the Social Sciences with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling from a recognized institution;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Counselling Or a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the Social Sciences with a Post-Graduate Diploma from a recognized institution; 
  • Psychological Debriefing;
  • Proficiency in Computer Applications;
  • Registration with the Kenya Counselling Association (KCA).

Public Health Officer III

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. mobilizing, sensitizing and advising communities on matters related to environmental health; referring health cases to relevant health facilities;
  2. carrying out immunization; identifying environmental health issues at community level;
  3. organizing community health days to advise communities on common public health issues;
  4. collecting and maintaining up to date records of services rendered;

Medical Social Worker III

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will be a member of a  team addressing the psychosocial effects as related to patients’ diagnosis, prognosis and future resettlement, and counseling of patients especially in cases associated with pandemic diseases, mental illness, HIV/AIDS, epilepsy etc.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C or its equivalent qualification.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level entail: –

Planning, controlling and co-ordinating all human resource management activities in such areas as recruitment, appointment, employee relations, discipline, remuneration and staff welfare within the framework of existing human resource management objectives, policies and regulations; and supervision, training and development of officers under him/her.

Requirements for Appointment

For this appointment an officer must have: –

  1. served as a Senior Human Resource Management Officer for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  2. a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences and Part II of CPS or Diploma in Personnel Management/ Human Resource Management or Industrial Relations from a recognized university/institution; and
