Fulfillment Manager

The role

  • As the Fulfillment Manager for Ilara Health’s Medicines supply business, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of medicines and healthcare supplies to our network of primary healthcare clinics across Africa. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the end-to-end fulfillment process, from order processing to last-mile delivery, ensuring operational excellence and customer satisfaction. You will collaborate closely with various internal teams and external partners to optimize supply chain operations, maintain inventory accuracy, and deliver a seamless experience for our customers.


Fulfillment Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement the overall fulfillment strategy for the Medicines supply business, considering cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, supply chain, and sales, to align fulfillment goals with overall business objectives.
  • Conduct regular analysis of fulfillment data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate strategies.

Logistics and Supply Chain Management:

  • Oversee the end-to-end logistics and supply chain operations, including procurement, warehousing, inventory management, and distribution.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of medicines and supplies.
  • Optimize transportation routes and modes to minimize costs and delivery lead times.
  • Implement robust inventory management practices to maintain optimal stock levels while minimizing the risk of stockouts or overstocking.

Order Processing and Fulfillment:

  • Develop and implement efficient order processing workflows, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate order fulfillment, including picking, packing, and shipping.
  • Monitor order fulfillment metrics, such as order cycle time and order accuracy, and take corrective actions when necessary.
  • Manage the returns and reverse logistics process, ensuring timely resolution of issues and effective handling of product returns.

Last-Mile Delivery Management:

  • Establish and manage a network of last-mile delivery partners across Africa, ensuring reliable and cost-effective delivery services.
  • Monitor and optimize last-mile delivery operations, including route planning, driver management, and tracking.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to implement delivery tracking systems and provide real-time visibility to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Continuously improve last-mile delivery processes to enhance delivery speed, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and evaluate fulfillment operations.
  • Generate regular reports on fulfillment performance, highlighting areas of success and improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify the reasons behind fulfillment issues and implement corrective actions.


  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in supply chain management, procurement, or logistics within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles, procurement processes, and logistics coordination.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to medicines and healthcare products.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in using supply chain management software and tools.
